Sure, not a problem, I'm sure I'll handle just fine. You're acting like BRD or BLM haven't kited AK mobs before.

DPS aren't as fragile as you make them out to be. I main a tank, and I know that most DPS'es I do party with are capable of handling themselves if I lose aggro to a single target - mainly back when I was using GC weapons, and trying to keep up with Relic +1 DPS in AK.

It's a forum .. can't stop it really. I just sit back and watch sometimes.

And where do I look up the binding for killtarget1? I am curious.

No offense, but since you know better, it's pretty stupid to pull them yourself. The tank may be standing there so that they can mark everything, I know that I will run up to a pull, stop just out of their range, mark them, and then proceed. Sometimes a DPS runs past me and pulls them, which is a royal pain since I'm in mid mark and have to switch hot bars and then wade in flashing my butt off...

I keep saying I will adopt the "you spank it, you tank it" point of view, but so far haven't, perhaps I should...

You should, it's tons of fun. You'll probably be accused of not doing your job by a PO'd DD, but you can laugh knowing that it's really them that have no restraint.

DDs are a dime a dozen. Who cares if they die for being ridiculous/impatient? This is coming from a BLM.

Not everyone that does that, does it with malicious intent or anything though.

Personally speaking, I've done WP so much that I can do it in my sleep. When we get to the part after the Pudding boss (where the first oil drops), if I see that Tonberry Stalker turn the corner, I always run to the second oil drop immediately (there are two tonberries at the door, it's always the one on the right). That's not something I do to try to show off some bad-assery or anything. It's something I do to help push the group along and get the door open so we can de-pop the Stalker.

It's not like I have time to instruct the tank on what to do when the group is at the point. The Stalker is practically there and we need to move. So when I do that, I just step out on faith and hope the tank takes the hint. However, it's not like I'm constantly running off ahead and just pulling stuff.

Kind of OT, but I really really hate it when people just stand in the middle of the room when they know the tonberry is coming any second to much their face. Get in the damn corner and take an aoe to save the group. /endrant

..back on topic, it's rarely if ever, malicious. It's just over-zealous DDs. Usually bards. There are some that do it on nearly every pull. It's in that scenario that I just let them tank. They've got to learn not to do it. People learn things better the hard way, imo.

No offense taken, however I only do it in lower level dungeons like Stone Vigil.

Here's a problem I have when I'm playing DPS: queue times take too long. I play on Tonberry, so I queue up for JP as well, despite not speaking a word of Japanese myself. This is pretty much the only way I'd be able to queue on a lower level dungeon without having to wait 2 hours.

Lack of communication, etc. In one of my Stone Vigil runs, the tank actually asked the healer to mark, and the healer was like "do it yourself it's your job", even to the point where the tank was begging someone else to do it (I have no idea why, so don't ask me). So in the end, I just took it upon myself to do the marking for him.

I'm guessing they stand around not to mark targets, but just wondering whether everyone else is ready to go in. Since there's sometimes a communication barrier, so nobody knows what the tank is thinking/saying either.

Obviously I don't do this when I'm running higher level dungeons.

Also the "you spank it, you tank it" approach didn't work for me on one occasion: on my first time running Halatali. I had a PGL who went in and aggro'ed everything, and was somehow able to tank 3 mobs, with help from the healer of course. There are times this approach backfires.

^ I wouldn't say that's backfiring so much as it is proof of concept. If you, as a DPS, really think you can tank a mob, then by all means grab it.
