[dev1083] /dtar What the hell does it do?

Seriously, I have no idea wtf this does. When enabled nothing appears different.

I ran a quick search and found mostly people pissed there is no /assist, targetmode A & C are identical and lots of sarcasm that SE is on the right track.

Can anyone explain what /directtarget actually does? (please for the love of god do not copy and paste the damn patch note that makes no sense)

    Thanks

You'd only notice it if you use a targeting mode that lets you set to only target "Party", "Friendly", "Enemy". Example: You have it set to "Enemy", with it on, pushing confirm could still target a non-enemy that's right in front of you. With it off, it will only target enemies.

So it's unnecessary and you wouldn't notice a difference if you play with targeting set to "All".

I had it on C and B and didn't see any difference in targeting modes of A and B before patch. I'll give it another try tonight.

I don't understand why targeting is now a two tiered over complicated system :/

A & C are essentially the same unless you use a controller.(I think)

    A- Set to All
    Up/Down targets party members
    Left/Right targets all targets
(With a controller you can Push the Auto-Run button + EmoteList for 'ALL', Main Menu for 'Friendly', Cancel for 'Party', Confirm for 'Enemy')

    C-
Always set to ALL and can't be changed like A can for controller users

Not sure what the difference is for keyboard, unless it doesn't use the Up/Down for party members -shrugs-

Basically before the Confirm command would target All. With Direct Target On, this is still the case. With Direct Target Off the confirm command targets based on your selected type (Enemy, Friendly, Party).
