You as well as most people probably want that particular piece of companion equipment due to its novelty factor rather than the looks. You do understand that by making it more easily available undermines that very aspect of the item, right?

People in MMOs always want to show themselves off in various ways and be unique at least in some sense. I personally think it's fine that some of the items would be very difficult to get because of this. With everything progression-related being as linear as it is on ARR people are already struggling to be something more than just another [Insert job here] amongst the masses.

Then again the massive campfest that Odin and Behemoth are feel really silly. For the current system to work properly the world (as one option) would probably need to be bigger and a little bit less instantly accessible, and a good deal more of these rare NM type monsters should be added in.

Not true. A lot of us want the item just to have it. Stuff can be unique without being rare, and rare isn't always what is sought after. However, before I even consider what item I want as a reward I have to overcome 2 hurdles: actually being able to participate in the fate when its spawn time is random and the incapability of getting gold regardless of what you do. More than any item reward I just want my achievements for those two fights.
