Simple fact. It's annoying. New game, has problems, I get it - but they're not all emergencies. Some of these things could wait for the end of the week.
Can we pick a day and make it maintenance day?

I also understand with video games now a days there will be updates maintenance things that people want to improve and fix. This game we are paying a monthly fee for to keep the servers going to keep the updates and new patchs and maintenance. The maintenance though is just BS. In september there was around 3 or 4 i think but come mid october till now november 10th there has been a outragous amount of maintenance going on. About every 3 days maintenance and some people don't minf cause they are asleep or working but this is stupid. You call it emergency or just say its needed then say you apologize for it thats BS. Set a day a week for it for your so called emergency maintenance then every 2 weeks do the other stuff you need. You have the patch 2.1 coming soon and oh lord we all know you will be calling maintenance on that so just show the players some kindness and set a day a week instead of killing anywhere from 2 to 6 hours a day every 3 days just do 1 day a week if needed. FIX IT
It's not general maintenance, the vast majority of it is to make the game stable. Nobody seems to bear in mind the amount of people using their servers, that has to be far more than they anticipated. You've also got to remember that they're using innovational code to even make the game possible. I know it looks much the same as what you've already played but it's really not. It's something new. PC and PS3 interacting? That's definitely something new and untested. Meaning you've got to allow for some sort of a learning curve.
Seriously, the maintenance has probably prevented me from playing for at least a week's worth of time (not cumulatively..but when you have a job, you can only play in the evening...and for whatever reason, SE chooses then to do maintenance).
I think SE needs to credit us a week's worth of our subscription fee.
You know what else is annoying? Another thread posting the same problem, and the same repeating agreements, debates, suggestions, and people like me show up.

Problems are distinct enough to warrant two separate threads. I had the same thought, but they are two different issues. Kthx
Guessing you never played FFXI? PC PS2 and XBOX360, interaction between multiple systems has been done for over a decade by SE
I can assure you that the last thing the development teams wants to do is take the servers down and prevent people from playing. Rest assured that, if this is done, it was deemed necessary and the best time was chosen to do it, either because of importance or because the time chosen would affect the least players. When the developers are battling third party attacks and marketboard hacks that threaten the stability of the entire game, it's prudent to be a little more understanding of when and why they take down the servers. There is more going on than what just affects our immediate world as individuals. Try to be more understanding.
Not on this scale with this level of interaction, read what I said, it might look like the same old thing, but it's not, it's something new. And you can hardly use FFXI as an example Squeenix have said themselves it was a flunk.
Give them a break, they're doing their best to cater for a huge population of players all with different wants and needs. Also, if you search via the Dev Tracker the director himself has addressed your concerns. He said not too long ago that the unscheduled maintenances are pretty much just because of players extorting glitches duping items, etc, etc. Look to your fellow player for answers. What are they meant to do? Leave people duping because you have work? Try being less self-absorbed.
And if they took a few minutes to tell us they were fixing anything that would help alot. The fact they arent telling us anything about what is going on just that they have "maintenance" to do, it just pisses people off. As for being the "last thing the development team wants" take a look at the game, think about all the very basic things they didnt take into account for the game. I have no doubt that the number of maintenances and the time of them is just something they dont bother taking into account.I can assure you that the last thing the development teams wants to do is take the servers down and prevent people from playing. Rest assured that, if this is done, it was deemed necessary and the best time was chosen to do it, either because of importance or because the time chosen would affect the least players.
