DPS Rankings

I have finished gearing my Tank and I'm about to start gearing up a DPS class. I was wondering what are the current rankings for all the DPS class, I got all of them to level 50 and they are mostly in AK gear and relics.


Summary of Jobs (no specific order)

BRD is the most in demand class for Coil, and is preferred in WP speed runs. They are also the easiest DPS class for me to play due to their mobility. But will be nerfed in the upcoming patch.

BLM is your mage archetype, and is also needed in WP speed runs. They provide great AOE, and are very bursty. Need planning for movement heavy fight or DPS will be lowered.

MNK have the most position requirements and certain fights they will lose Greased Lightning. From what I'm told, top of the ST DPS charts.

DRG the most unforgiving if you mess up your rotation, but provides good DPS.

SMN I don't like, mainly cause I'm not a huge fan of pet classes, they do provide amazing Single Target / Multi-target DPS though.


I was wondering what does everyone rank the 5 current DPS classes.

Why not play what you enjoy? Or...discuss with your coil group what they wouldn't mind helping you gear up.

On the "Binary Pass-ability" Rankings, they are all at 1. Cheesy as it sounds, you may as well just pick whichever one you find most interesting. Any of them can work at the moment, unless your FC is just overloaded on a class right now.

If they are pretty much even, then chances are I will gear BRD or BLM, since they are needed in both WP speed runs and Coil groups. Although I'm near 100% sure that I will be needed as PLD for my FC for Coil.

When my FC was first formed we had like 8 tanks, 8 healers and 2 DPS. Now we have 50+ members and 3 coil groups, but only have 5 or 6 tanks / healers and the rest of them switched to DPS.

Don't forget that bards will be nerfed soon. How it will affect them no one's knows yet.

@OP - I agree with your rankings for sure except I would place SMN as top DPS in boss fights that do not have a lot of phase changes where the dots are removed at the beginning of each phase.

I actually just listed the 5 DPS jobs with a short summary, wasn't my ranking for them XD

As a BLM, your statement about us being bad on movement heavy fights, its actually not really true. We have all the tools at our disposal to completely negate most movement downtimes. In fact, our total uptime is higher than melees since we don't have to deal with melee range mechanics/cleaves. We also have skills that allow us to negate oncoming physical or magical attacks (meaning we can choose to ignore things like titan landslide, ADS high voltage, Twintania Divebombs, Twintania twisters and so on). Even on fights with required movement, we have a fantastic 30 sec CD teleport/dash that we can use to move between GCDs. In addition, you can make minor movement adjustments between casts without any delay, by beginning your movement as a cast reaches 85% completion, it will complete the cast as you're moving. Can also move during GCD wastes after fire3 and thunder procs.

So tl;dr bad BLMs have issues with movement fights, good ones plan around it and utilize their skillsets to continue providing uninterrupted DPS.

Haven't played BLM much, can you tell me which move can negate these attacks?

I agree with Myth play the one you enjoy playing lol.

SMN my favorite DPS for sure it s not that far behind from the others and have other tools as well.

BRD I love how stylish my BRD is as he moves all over the field and can switch between songs to help party members.

BLM Spells and AoE Burst DMG it s outstanding but you have to check on the situation if they don t manage to land or chain of spells and spend most of the time running in circles xD

DRG they look awesome as they role, even tho they are limited by melee range they have indeed more tools to regen or preserve hp than mnks.

MNK As mentioned to deal with the stances + position might be to trouble some for most people

I still believe every class can be worthy if you know the pros and cons of each and how to manage it
