FFXIV: poor gameplay due to lag

I could not find a more specific tab to put this thread in since it affects gameplay in general, but mostly when doing raids/primals hm (extreme modes in the future).

Why does SE give us servers that can not provide smooth gameplay? Did they have to cut corners because they were on a budget and decided to have 'okay' servers?

Sure, you can say: "well, don't play the game gtfo". But let's face it: we want to play this game, we want to play FF. Forums are here to discuss and ask things helping out other players and developers to make the game better..

I don't need to get into all the details, everyone knows this game terribly lags. If you think it's not, it's because you only play this MMO and got used to how it feels. Just play another MMO for about 30 minutes (any other MMO really, that's the sad part, even the free to play ones), then come back to this game, you'll know what I mean..

Does anyone know the upcoming patch will try to fix these terrible lag issues?

Contact your internet service provider. I have been playing since a week after launch with shitty time warner cable and I experience almost no lag. If there was a problem fundamentally with the servers wouldn't this be a problem that EVERYONE experienced?

There is at minimum a .3second position delay that even SE has stated (and put in on purpose). Really getting tired of people coming in with this argument.

Ya I hate when people use the "I am not lagging" statement. That is like people in NY saying it is snowing and someone in Miami saying it is not, it is 90 and sunny. And BTW your Sig is the best! I am so stealing it!
Titan is the one fight I can't do due to that lag. Working on turn 5 and no issue in Coil, but Titan lag kills me all the time.

It's the ignorance people tend to build when they can't come up with some decent arguments..

BTW, Titan hm is a good example of how lag sometimes makes this game impossible to enjoy.

This thread wasn't about being able to down Titan hm. The fact some people still brag about how Titan is laughable, only proves they spent a shit ton of time learning the fight. Would be quite sad for someone starting early September but still having trouble with Titan wouldn't it?

That's nice mate.

However, it's not like we can't play the game due to this lag, it's just there. Some people just do not notice it I guess. It's just not right when we need to take into account to move out of things differently because what we see isn't actually what is happening. Just one of many examples I could give..

I will contact my Internet service provider. I will tell them FFXIV is the only game which has this issue, maybe they can help. Thanks, I did not think of that one myself!

Well I guess me and the 40+ members of my FC are just insanely lucky to have god like connections because we never seem to experience this so called "lag". There is only one particular attack that EVER has hit me when I've been outside the void zone, and thats the mold circular AoE the first boss of WP uses. I routinely go weeks without getting hit by an avoidable mechanic on titan (just helping out friends and what not), yet I experience the same .3 delay we all experience, and the same animation lock we all experience, yet I don't get hit by stuff. Hmm, strange. As if some grainy shitty .gif image is concrete proof of their being lag. If you haven't adapted your playstyle to account for the slight delay, then I hate to sound like a jackass, but maybe you just aren't that good? The poster above just sounds like a bad player, I mean, how are you working on coil but can't kill titan? Titan is pretty laughable because the fight is the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER. If you learn the rotation, even with a half second delay, you should be able to dodge shit by moving preemptively.

Never said I can't beat Titan, did months ago. Go in and help others kill it every week. SE has admitted to the lag issue. But since you can't read my post, I guess you don't read their posts either. I am happy you and your friends don't have the issue a lot of others do. You do know people play on different PCs and on different connections. Someone playing on top internet and a i7 will prob lag less then someone on a lower speed connection and a dual core. Comparing people on an even playing field and using blanket statements is total ignorance on your part. There are millions of variables that go into lag or DC issues. Some get 90000 a lot, others haven't had it once. Some lag on some fights, while others don't. The lack of IQ it takes to put lag issues on the player and it is their fault they might lag is laughable.
