Simple bard question with simple answer!

In a forum of rants and complaints. I have a simple legit question for you guys!

Q: Should battle voice be applied before, or during a song?
(Does the song stay empowered if activated during the 30 seconds or does the empowerment only last as long as the buff?)

I apply Battle Voice after singing the song, since I don't want to waste a portion of the 30seconds singing the song itself. That said, I've never run any tests, so I don't actually know how it works, but this way made the most sense to me. Should be easy enough to test yourself though. Pop sprint to blow your TP, and run tests with the TP song.

    Apply it after the song.

Well, that's the thing. Battle voice doesn't affect the bard themself, just their allies. (Most of our song and song related skills are incredibly buggy - like foe requiem increases damage dealt by unaspected damage, not elemental damage, and flame arrow/windbite count as physical)

    Any proofs on this?

since it's on a timer I always activate it after playing the song. this way I don't miss out on the tick or so it takes to actually play the song. The empowerment only lasts as long as the buff.

Also tested myself by casting MP song and timing how long it took for me to run out of MP with and without battle voice activated. You'd expect it to take longer with battle voice due to the superior MP regeneration for 30 seconds of the song; thats actually what triggered me to create the thread and ask, because I wasn't sure if I was using battle voice properly.

I'm fairly certain songs do not effect the song player. I have not tested but I've noticed Paeon doesn't particularly increase my TP regen.

They do. At least, most do - all songs consume MP at the same speed, but mage's ballad lasts significantly longer (and lasts exponentially longer with increasing MP pool) due to the enhanced MP regeneration affecting yourself.

Songs do affect the singing bard, battle voice also affects the singing bard. Your MP will almost not dwindle with Ballad paired with Battle Voice. Battle Voice should be used only for 2 scenarios : Recover 25% of Healers MP, expecting a burn phase when you have a Black Mage in group with Requiem.

In any other situation outside where there the above 2 situation doesn't occur. Don't use Battle Voice, and only requiem till 50% of your MP and toggle it off and on when you're almost full again.
