    How is that better? Not only will everyone still wear the same thing (BiS will always be seeked out, this will never change except through vanity slots), but the item slot will no longer be of any use as the item will always be there.

    You might as well just build those stats into the character and remove the slot all together...

    The progression model is made to allow the carat on a stick syndrome that developers can use to manipulate players into playing content (repeatably as a time sink). By giving gear that's irreplaceable, its removing the powers that the Dev's have over the user base.

    This is an extremely dumb comment.
    I played PS2 for the first 2 years I played 11 (2005-2006) and I had macros for gearswap, as well as for SATA. The only thing Windower did was allow you to make 1 giant long macro instead of needing 2 to swap to STR for WS.

    I'm not going to even get into your jealous-diva-drama comment of not being intelligent enough to min-max.

    The only reason having the BiS slot that lasts for 3 years or longer was because it used to take ridiculous effort to get it. If Relic+1 is the BiS weapon in the game for the next 3 years, people would (rightfully) complain that it's pretty messed up a trivial encounter still produces the best weapon in the game even when you have 5 digit HPs. People really need to be careful of what they think of. It's quite easy to make gear with a lasting impact, but the tradeoff is that you most likely wouldn't have it. If everyone have the 'gear with lasting impact', then the 'lasting impact' part might as well be something built into your character. In EQ1/EQ2 the epics pretty much have unreplaceable special effects, and at least in EQ2 they eventually just made the special effect part of your class because otherwise you'd never be able to replace your epic weapon since the special effect on it outweighs any stat gain.

    No, XI did it wrong. When a 75 THF uses level 7 shoes, that's not progression, that's stagnation.

    The way MMOs should be built is that every patch has something new to work toward. When you make gear have such an impact that is all you get and stop, that defeats the purpose of updates, because you already have the best equipment.

    This is why we need a system where we can swap the looks of any piece of gear with any other of the same type. That way once you out level your fav looking gear you can keep it and make use of it's look.

    why do people think CT is supposed to have better gear than coil on launch?... they said many times it was the step in between primals and coil <.<

    the old servers didn't close.they went down only for the time during december and somehwere around cbt2 or 3, dunno which brought them back again.
    the engine changed, but a new engine doesn't make a new game.it was simply a technical upgrade, to help alleviate some stress that the older engine caused due to it taxing high end computers and the PS3 being unable to handle it correctly.
