Well, I disagree that they didn't provide any answers. But I can think of a couple of reasons that players should prefer Q&As over blog entries.

First, it's a good way for SE to gauge player interest in certain issues. SE isn't a company of mind-readers. This is a good way for players to let SE know how we feel about certain issues, and what's important enough to fix first.

Second, blog posts/letters tend to focus on what they've definitely got planned, and ignore everything else. That's just good PR. Here, we got plenty of "We're not planning to do that" and "We're thinking about that, but not sure" responses. So we get responses on a wider variety of topics than you'd get from a blog post/letter.

Third, we got answers to our questions. This isn't SE telling us only what they want us to know. This is SE telling us what we want to know.
