Will SE drop FFXIV: Realm Reborn for PS3 when PS4 is out?

It make more sense if they drop the PS3 since now it is limited them and it putting the PC version back. If they still continue with PS3, they have to make one for the PC, PS3, and PS4 as well. I think it's better if they drop the PS3 and do it for PS4 only because the PS4 is clearly better and it won't hinder down the PC version and the development time can be cut shorter.

I don't want a PS3 version to be ported right through the PS4 with faster loading and game play. I want it to have better graphic, most features from the PC, and overall a better and faster game play on the PS4. I'm using a PC now, but plan on getting a PS4.

Damn we probably get a ported gimp PS3 version with still bad graphic then,only different will be faster game play. Guess I stick to my PC then.

But if you bought FFXIV ARR on PSN it will carry over to PS4 because your PSN account carries over along with all items you have bought . As for retail disk you will have to buy a new one if you want ps4 version

If they are going to support two DX versions of the game on the PC, why wouldn't they support a PS3 and a PS4 version?

Crappy part is that the Ps4 is charging a fee to play multiplayer games online plus a ffxiv sub fee = to about 17-18$ a month

The PS4 probably won't see widespread adoption for a number of years. It's expensive and, like many new software/hardware releases, it probably won't work correctly for a while. So, even if SE do stop supporting the PS3, it won't be for a long time.

On a personal note, FFXIV is one of only two games my PC can't run (the other being Space Marine) so I'd be pretty annoyed if they cancelled support, especially as I've only had my PS3 for a year. I've also spent a fortune on this game already!

I wish they would. FFXIV would so much profit from a better Hardware in it's future development, now it's so much limited.
But as sorry as I am, it is unlikely they will drop the PS3 too soon.

The PC version is unaffected in a lot of ways by PS3 and most "limitations" are due to lower end PC's, because you know you're not the only person in the world and a lot of people can't afford gaming PC's. PS4 will be a different client to PS3, like DX10 and 11 on PC, so it will be unaffected by PS3. It seems they took a lot from XI in that respect and have planned for the future when upgrades are released.

PS3 has a few limitations but are mostly graphical and only affect the user, people who shout otherwise are either ignorant or playing ignorant because they spent thousands on an amazingly fast computer that isn't being used to it's full potential but I say that's your own fault for buying what a very little % of the population have when games companies HAVE to conform to the majority.
