I think what the op is hoping for is a Dev to get back on this and perhaps get someone from SE community relations involved in the process to see if this can be streamlined. SE support is rated as a F by the BBB for a vast numerous amount of reasons, this perhaps being the biggest of them all. Not restoring an account because a letter is not capitalized is redundant and not good business. Especially if he is able to provide all relevant information including but not limited to the unique CD Keys which are provided with the game that only he should have.

not sure why the OP is getting so much hate from folks over the issue. Its good to bring this kind of service to light, its good to have a thread where others can share their own experiences as well. Only good can come from it because the community reps can forward it to the proper channels and SE can use it to build on becoming better at customer service. Im glad your friend got his account back.

I had a friend that recently not only had a bad experience with SE customer support but was also given invalid information. She was chatting with them to find out what she needed to do or what to expect would happen when she moved and her ISP changed. She knew that as soon as she logged in under the new ISP here account would be locked and she would have to reset the password in order to access her account. What she wanted to know is if she needed to do anything for the system to recognize the new IP so she wasn't locked out every time she tried to log in.

The rep told her there was nothing she could do, that she would have to change her password every time she logged in because the IP would be different then her original one. And then promptly disconnected from the chat after diplaying the closing comments.

This of course is incorrect but it still made her upset until we explained to her that she only needed to go through the password changing once.

Everyone makes mistakes, but how the situation was treated by the SE end was completely unprofessional and completely avoidable.

If you have issues with SE customer service, just mail a bunch of shit to their office. Coupons, old spelling tests from the third grade, whatever. They will stop being douches after a few of those gems dropped in the mail. Hey asshole from the FF11customer service team, I hope you got all those Little Ceasars coupons, I wrote your name on them.

So much ignorance in this thread.

Yeah, it was his fault that his account got hacked (it sounds like), and that's on him. However, SE should still try to do everything in their power to help their customers. It's basic customer service which we should expect no different than if we went into a department store or supermarket.

No, I'm not talking about ZOMG I ARE TEH CUZTOMER I'M ALWAIS RIGHT!!! nonsense, but just that SE really should be trying to latch on to every single customer it has (as well as continue to earn new ones). Not to use a cliché, but customers really do write the pay check of any business.

if you dont type it in correctly, thats not SEs fault its YOURS

i mean come on, what happens if this method is whats used to compromise the account, and when you get to SE they tell you "well they didnt get it right, but they were close so we gave them a hint"

for all they know you were the one trying to compromise the account
How do you continually keep missing the point?

    should go somehting like this:
    rep: ok whats the cdkey.
    hackee: blahblahb
repk password is reset heres the new password.
    hakee: tanks.
    rep: take care.

anything more than that is just being a douche to cutomers and i have to conclude that they are doing it on purpose cause no company is that stupid right?
