I'd like to get a good (but fairly cheap) headset so I can use vent, but I don't know much about this area. Any suggestions?
Also, will I be hearing the game sounds through the headset too, or do/can they still come through my speakers?
Thanks.

I got this one, it's fairly cheap and I've had no complaints, infact it picks up almost everything.

The audio from the game is also played through it, but I think you can change that somewhere.

With the USB headset Seph listed, it's a second audio device. So you could leave ARR to use your sound card, then set Vent to use the headset. Problem with that headset, is it's both ears, so it would muffle the game audio. If you want something like that, you'd want to get something nicer and just run both through the headset. Far too expensive for you most likely, but I use an Astro A50.
If you want to use the headset for JUST Vent and still listen to the game via your speakers, i'd suggest a single ear headset.

I know its not the cheapest, but there's always turtle beach, if you were to go down that route, I would suggest not ordering from their website though. I would go somewhere like game-stop, it seems they are around $20 cheaper from places other than their website! x.x you can get a nice quality of them like the X-12 for around $39-$40 at gamestop plus the cable is long in case you need to move away from your desk or wherever your computer is placed.

I'd price search though! I ended up spending a ton on mine for not doing that! D:

How cheap we talking here exactly?
Theres plenty of cheap, yet good headsets outthere. Just curious what you think is cheap.
I mean, a headset for 400 Dkr, ($70), is cheap in my eyes. Thats how much I paid for a good steelseries headset many years ago.
Today, I'm using a PC360 Game headset, and its just amazing. But it does cost around $200-250.
I was thinking max $50, because I know I won't use it that much. I wouldn't wear it unless I was doing something with my guild. How cheap we talking here exactly?

If you want something cheap, easy to find, and still decent quality. I would suggest going to walmart and seeing what they have from turtle beach in their console isle with the ps3 and xbox 360 accessories. I think you can find some there for less then 50 dollars pretty easy and they should still work with pc (thou the xbox 360 versions might require some extra setup to work right).
If you already have a decent set of headphones you could always try a modmic
