    The one concern that people have against switching to loot lockout is that bored FCs will start selling runs. As in 7 players who are loot locked will run an eighth player through who is guaranteed loots cause the other 7 are locked anyways.

    An easy way to deal with this is to make chests appear with a [(X/8)x100]% chance where X is the number of players that are not loot locked. It would be some frustrating RNG at times but overall it should average out across the server. So if you have 15 people running in two groups, you should expect to have 15 chests appear every 16 weeks for every time a chest has a chance to appear. It would make sense you would have decreased loot, as you are taking less players in (and the whole point of lockouts in general is to cap the amount of loot you can earn each week).

    I think a lot of FCs are starting to feel the 'static drama' now. This is one of those things that no MMO has been able to figure out afaik. The idea of locking specific people out of content is really poor. The first MMO that can get loot lockout right will be in really good shape.

    They could also make it so you can only go back and do each turn (without loot) once.

    Sure you could still get together and sell a run through once a week but the person you bring might not even get anything that drops for their class and the income wouldn't be enough to really warrant it (and the few people who do it wouldn't make a huge impact).

    It would, however, allow you to go with another group from your FC to help out.

    I hate the current lockout system. HATE. People always end up feeling left out, because -- by S-E's design -- you cannot help anyone else through a Turn if you've already completed it that week.

    I am worried that we're going to have the same lockout system with Crystal Tower, just writ larger (24 people locked out at a time rather than 8).

    On the other hand, loot-level lockout wouldn't work, because (as noted above) some people will sell Coil runs. That's just ridiculous, and no one wants to go there. (Except EmSix. :P)

    I wish I had an idea as to how we can make it work, but I don't think I have a grasp of all the variables involved.

    I would, however, very much like to see a confirmation from the dev team that they are aware that the lockout system is causing some social issues, and they are batting around some ideas to improve the situation.

    Don't expect the White Knights to think this is a good idea.

    Having lockouts shared was such a STUPID thing to do on Square's part. It just drastically reduces the pool of potential Coil party members, which in other games you could use Alts, in this game, tough luck (or pay us money so you can make more characters).

    Step 1. Clear Coil with one player on his main, and 7 players on their alts.

    Step 2. Pass all loot to the main character so that he gears up much faster.

    Step 3. Repeat the above steps for every main character. Repeat until every main has cleared Coil and taken every single reward.

    Step 4. Go to Mor Dhona and sell entire Coil carries (or at least Turns 1-4) for insane amounts of gil.

    Sorry. It seems like a good idea but if you think it through, it's actually a pretty bad idea.

    I am more than willing to let people grind their time to do this if it means other people can help friends. I mean, do you realize how long it would take to do that for every main char? If people have that kind of time, more power to them.


    In any system there are people that are going to do their best to abuse it. I don't think we should hurt others to try and prevent that.

    [edit] Honestly, and I know FF fans just hate WoW, but they started doing this with the looking for raids, and announced at blizzcon they were extending it to normal and heroic raids. (You could go in LFR again but not get loot; however, they did have quests for coins where you could retry for some loot). While I am well aware this isn't WoW, nevertheless I never really saw any mass abusing of the system, and it really didn't affect players. I feel like while there may be a few that abuse it, you'll find it's a very small minority of people.

    I understand the concerns about a group of seven people 'carrying' someone and selling the run. Perhaps some sort of restriction could be put in place to prevent this... For example, only HALF of the members in a Coil run can be people who have already run it this week. It's possible to carry one person, but it is not possible to carry four.
