Have the devs considered simply extending the AOE cast time so players have a larger window to dodge?

That would be band-aiding the issue, and would make the fights easier for any of those not experiencing it. We just want the issue fixed (which wouldn't impact all those not seeing it to begin with), not the fights dumbed down.
I don't know what OP's purpose was with this topic, to become hated amongst the community or what? If the purpose of the topic was to help people suffering from this issue it is not very evident from the arrogant rhetoric of his/her.
Aaa-anyways.
I have a 100/10 mbps connection and I can cast esuna while running and get hit by aoes when I'm out of them. 50-60 fps on dungeons with high settings. Absolutely no lag problems with any other game whatsoever, no conflicting software etc.
What can I do please tell me? Is my only option to move out of Finland to play this game?
Basically what this topic is all about to me is: "Unless your american, japanese or canadian --> don't play the game"
I'd rather think the issue is not the oversea connection, but instead something on SE side. I mean, how stupid would it be from SE to make an online game that is unplayable by nearly a billion people living on one of the wealthiest areas of the world? (Europe).

I would love to see this guy do the same gif, with the atk from wp first boss... if u not on the move i find to be impossible to avoid his red circle, the cast is simple to fast for the delay in this game.
That's true but there's also those who are so bad they can't dodge the aoe or for some reason just don't bother and it's alot easier to blame this issue instead of themselves.
It is not imposible to dodge AoEs. I think everyone had done it some way or another. But since the response of the server is slow you probably have to move out in the instant the AoE appears if you delay just a tiny micro second you wont dodge it even if your chaaracter made it out of the zone in time before the enemy finish casting. So that 0.3 or 0.5 (for those who are farther way from the servers) have a huge impact on hard fights.
NO ONE POINTS THE FINGER AT THEIR VIDEO CARD! It's your damn video card but it's only partially your fault, SE told you you met the requirements for play and you may even exceed the bare minimum but if you're on a laptop your video card is going to be weaker in comparison to what a PC is capable of reaching.
A lot of the time people who complain about "I got out of that in time, that's BS" are the ones who got out of it just as the circle / line was disappearing. This means you were too late and should try and get better at the game.
However, there are some legitimate problems as SE has even acknowledged the EU issue.
That's the thing though, without the issue being fixed you just don't know. Right now, in order to see virtually no issues (because Yoshi said there's still a .1 second delay), you have to have the optimal setup. Anything less then an optimal connection and you start to see lag/get hit by things you were out of. So it's entirely possible for someone who has no issues playing other games to have the exact same latency in other games but see an issue here. A 500 ms latency in another game won't give you any noticeable issues, but here it makes it so you get hit by AOEs if you're not out by a certain point in the cast bar. No difference in latency between the games, but this game handles it much worse.
Players should not have to account for that. If I can play literally any other MMO with 500 ms latency (and I'm not saying that's what I have, it's just an example), and dodge AOEs just fine, then I should be able to play this one at 500 ms latency and expect the same. Could the player get a VPN and improve that latency, and get into that .1 second thing Yoshi talked about? Sure.. but they shouldn't have to. Nor should they have to fight with ISPs to get a more direct route that doesn't get bogged down to the data center or anything like that.
I've stated in other threads I believe that the majority of the player base is effected. Why? Because the entire strat for Titan is to move before he casts skills. If you rely on ground indicators to appear before you move, the majority of people seem to get hit. I would also say a majority of people don't read the forums, don't know about the issue, and therefore don't know to pre-move. So then you get people yelling at others and calling them bad when in all reality, they were out on their screen.
While it is true that some people will always blame lag when it's not lag, many people are throwing that up as an excuse to pretend there isn't an issue at all. If the issue is fixed, suddenly lag is out of the question (except in severe cases, which are going to be few and far between, unlike what we have now) and all you're left with is player skill.
