Recent Thread Deletions

I don't know what's going on with the admins tonight, but when I read the forums, I open all the topics I want to read as new tabs. Once they are all opened, then I read them one at a time, closing the tabs as I finish each topic. Well tonight, 2 of the conversations I was reading disappeared when I tried to view their second page, once done checking it was obvious that the threads were deleted. Neither one warranted deletions (from what I read) and if the offending posts were in the other pages, then why not delete the offending comments instead of deleting the entire threads?

Keep this up and SE will have a non-reversible reputation of deleting posts (censoring speech) for no real reasons and that's not exactly the customer service friendly SE that we've been hearing about since ARR came out. Remember, many of us are American (meaning our freedom of speech is something we take extremely serious) and we take being censored very personally, especially when there's no real reason to kill the threads when deleting the offensive (if there were any) comments is a realistic option. What's going on SE? This is not the direction you should be heading in...

And as an American Im sure your familar with private property rights - these boards are Square's property to censor as they see fit. Sad fact is you forfit the right to free speech when you post on the forums. If you want a real discussion without fear of deletion you might have to have the more honest talks about ARR on a board that SE don't control.
I've noticed threads been randomly deleted for weeks, sometimes I disagree but its not a big deal for the most part.
In Square's defence though their not the only company to keep a grip on their forums and delete topics they dont like (for whatever reasons) - all companies do it, to protect their images, property and so on.

Yes, if you honestly want good convos, you'll need to make a forum like EQ2Flames did since they deleted many threads on the min EQ2 boards.

They aren't censoring speech (the content of the post), they're censoring bad behavior e.g. swearing, terms of use violations, etc.
They do not delete posts because they don't like the message. They only delete things that break the rules.

Threatening them or saying "you will have bad rep" won't change anything. Follow the rules and your posts/threads won't be deleted. It's as simple as that.

This is a private forum for a private company, and free speech rights do not apply, whether you're an American (or more accurately, someone from the United States) or live anywhere else. Even if they did apply, your free speech rights end where they infringe on someone else's rights (e.g. llibel/defamation/etc).

I'm a United States citizen too, and I understand that SE is well within their rights to delete posts for whatever reason they see fit (even though they only delete posts that violate the rules.)

To be perfectly honest they should delete a lot more threads. The amount of repeat discussions on here that have already been addressed is truly mind boggling. A lot of other community sites would be way more brutal with the kind of threads we see on here, e.g. a lot more would be deleted.
