Well, the game's main storyline satisfies that by having memorial events in the three cities on the 'fifth anniversary' of the Calamity just before the player joins a Grand Company - the actual real-life date it happened has little connection to in-game times.

It actually has a lot to do. I seriusly mean it.

SE managed to give a "lore" significance to the calamity FFXIV 1.0 was per se. The date of that trailer, and 1.0 servers going down, and the events that justified everything we have seen in the 2 months we have been already playing, everything, has a crucial date, and that date, is today.

And im thinking that me and a few guys in the lore section and tumblr are the only ones who actually recognize this. I mean, damn, i didn`t even played 1.0 and this is very important to me.

Like I said, the anniversary of Dalamud's impact was already dealt with in game during the storyline regardless of the actual date so hence having a special 'one year' anniversary event would blatantly contradict that (after all, as far as the storyline is concerned we're meant to be five years after Dalamud's impact, not one).

Also Tazo, that trailer eventually plays in ARR if you don't press start on the main title screen after a few minutes.

Like i said, its not meant to be only an in-game lorewise thing.
One year ago 1.0 was shutdown and we had this trailer coming for us. You can play all you want with the obviusly arbitrary dates of ingame events all you want.

But was today, one year ago, when the calamity "happend". And is seriusly terrible that we dont even have a letter in our moggle mail to remember it.
