I'm curious if Au Ra, lore wise, can be a Disciple of Magic.
I thought about this because I made my SMN/SCH an Au Ra (Xaela) and wasn't sure if this was actually a thing.

Raen, as part of Doman society, almost definitely know magic.
Xaela are a little iffy. Since they live in nomadic tribes and little mention of magic use was made in anything about them, they might not inherently use magic. However when you enroll in a guild they teach you the fundamentals, so I see no reason why not.

"There is no hope in stubbornly clinging to the past. It is our duty to face the future and march onward, not retreat inward." -Sovetsky Soyuz, Azur Lane: Snowrealm Peregrination
The Mol Xaela do have shamans which are typically seen as spiritual magic.

Xaela sure aren't optimal healers
Larek Darkholme @ Ragnarok
No but other races have similar starting stat issues in a stat so it doesn't really matter. Attribute points makes it for the most part moot. I'm trying Ast on a Xaela and am getting nearly equal Benific II heals as Cure II in the Manor from a Highlander.
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."
~ Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan
Lorewise your character came to whatever city to learn the ways of their class, any other traditions aren't really lore.
