Map Not Displaying Some Quests/FATEs/Gathering Points

Haven't been able to find any threads about this problem to this extent, though I've seen some similar mentions, mostly in bug reports. I'm not sure at this point if it is a bug, so I'm asking here first.

As some people have mentioned, the map only shows quests in the quest tracker. It was only a little annoying for me, until today when I was running a quest where I had to talk to five people at various locations on the map. I'd pull up the quest, click "Map," and the map would show all five locations. Once I talked to any of the NPCs, however, the icons on the map would disappear again... The icons also disappear if I close the map and reopen it.

There have been a few times when FATEs did not update on the map. I think there are a few different types of maps (since pressing M seems to change... something... or nothing?), but I have yet to figure out what they are or what they're used for. I was in a party once and a party member noted that a FATE had appeared on the map (too far to be notified that it was nearby, but close enough that it was visible on the map), but I didn't see it until I had mashed my map key a few times.

Not to mention, when using "Prospect" on any of the DoL classes, I can't see the icons indicating any corresponding locations. It is rather frustrating running around aimlessly having to manually look for a glow and white text--which could just be on the other side of a tree that I ran past on the opposite side--to figure out where I can attempt to gather.

Is this just me/am I missing something, working as intended, or a bug?

I am having this exact problem. I have also googled it and can't find a solution.

I uninstalled the game and re-installed it and the problem went away, until I went to South Shroud, then the problem started happening all over again. It seems to work on/off depending on where I am.
