I think it depends on what model of armour it uses - if it uses something generic it can usually be dyed. Some gear also is deliberately made unsellable because SE decided to make that piece of armour unique. It's just how it is.
As for your other questions:
1. This would be a nice idea to encourage people to wear the full set instead of mixing and matching pieces to boost stats.
2- Primal gear is usually unique and hence I doubt would be able to be crafted (that's the whole point - it's otherwordly and not something a mere mortal should be able to make).
3- Mostly role-based LBs serve their purpose. I think the one that everyone complains about is the DD one that uses the Buster Sword, which players don't think suits some Jobs (like DRG). Ultimately though it's a trivial reason which doesn't really seem to warrant a major change, as it's just aesthetics.
4- To do this though SE would have to alter the texture files for every armour model in the game, a time and resource-hungry undertaking, that could be better spent on other things. In a few months there will be some other new 'must have' armour set and hence DL will be mostly ignored anyway so seeing everyone in DL won't be a problem for too much longer. Besides, seeing players wearing the same gear will always be a problem, it's a fact of life with 'gear creep' - it's just the 'must have gear' will always be changing.
5- Although this would perhaps trivialize getting Primal gear, I've heard that SE already plan to make 'current endgame content' more accessible every six months or so for more casual players when they add new endgame content. So it's likely something like this might actually occur in the future.
6- Although I felt a little cheated that I didn't get to fight Siren during the encounter with her in the Ship Graveyard during the storyline, I don't think we'll be seeing her as a Primal fight, as it was my understanding Sirens are an actual race and not a Primal (hence there's more than one). But I'd still like to fight one some time.![]()
