    Extreme lag (Returning player)

    Hi.

I had a break for a month and just logged in to do Titan HM but it wasn't pretty. I got these huge lagspikes (5 sec) every 10 seconds or so. I've had my share of lag in the past (like many others) but this is the worst lag I've ever seen. I checked Resourse monitor but it says 160ms there which is normal for FFXIV.

I've restarted my computer, router but it didn't help. Outside of the instance everything seems fine though.

Below is a ping and tracert. A duty member living in Norway said he also had lagspikes but guildies living in the UK had none. What do you make of this?

This issue has been going on for over 2 months now, and there has been no official word from SE about what they are doing about it. They are just leaving the community so speculate, and from my point of view they just don't care. I am sorry you wasted your money, I did too.

The only options you have right now are to pay for a VPN service, but than you are basicaly paying double to play a sub par game that should realistically be F2P with the lack of content, support, and community management.

You're showing some familiar signs of congestion problems in your TI segments. Might want to open a support ticket with both your ISP and SE, including those results and asking for escalation. We've been seeing these kinds of results in traces for quite some time now, and some ISP's are already working on it, but it is slow going. Cogentco seems to be showing some improvements in some areas, but it isn't very widespread yet.

The more data they can get their hands on that gives clues as to where they need to look for the problems, the better.

Remember, this forum is NOT a support line to SE (it's for users to assist users, not for SE to interact with users for support). Your most direct line to SE is through their support portal--generate a ticket there. Your ISP likely has a similar system, or at the very least they may have a way to send an email to tech support at their website, or they may have a support forum you can use.

Yep, had no problems until release but my solution was to dowload and pay for battleping - it routed me around cogentco and since then i havent had a single bit of lag anywhere during prime times, not in ak/wp , not on titan or coil either.

Sure it costs like 5 dollars a month Which sucks when youre already paying for a game thats supposed to not have these kind of lag issues, but without bping its just no Point in playing at all.
