Pulling everything is a bad idea unless you're sure everyone else is a good guy (and thus will back off from your territory). This is because the ability to tag anything is limited to 1 per GCD (mobs generally are way too spaced out to tag them with AEs), so if you get someone angry enough, you basically end up splitting the camp which is likely not what you intended. As is true in most prisonner's dilemma scenario, the optimal strategy is start off being a nice guy and then switch to being a jerk if anyone dared to cross you.

BLM Scathe is pretty good at tagging everything. When I'm in a fate pt on my BLM I generally get 4+ pages of tags just spamming scathe. And when it's up I swift cast Fire II. And if a bunch of mobs are on me not tagged, swift cast blizzard II.

Invite them to party and share the loot Makes farming less boring even though you get slightly less loot.

If your class has a tagging advantage over your competitor there is more incentive to be a jerk. That said, from my farming experiences, people will rarely actually compete against you in any well defined camp, because they know that is difficult unless you're a melee and they're a BLM. However, people will compete against you when you try to cover more than 1 camp. What they can do is simply help you kill the mobs on camp 2 that's not within casting range from camp 1. This ensures all the mobs in camp 2 will respawn before the guy is done with camp 1 the next cycle, and then he'd be pretty helpless to tag those mobs from that point on, as now the mobs are respawning too fast for him to cover with his own DPS.

Someone in my FC told an anecdote about how someone at the Burning Wall told him to go away because the Golden Fleece were his. All 50 spawns of them.

The real dicks farming are the guys that get the entire spawn area claimed and they just sit there getting wailed on, not dieing, and not killing them. You can kill them yourself, but get no items (he/she does), and then they do it again.

I'll never understand why SE thinks it's fun for players to compete for mob spawns. It's really not. It's annoying, frustrating - and I am of the firm belief it was the HNM hunting that held Final Fantasy 11 back from being the genre defining success it could have been.

So I support the spirit of your post 100%. SE needs to wipe this concept from their Dev playbook and never re-visit it. It was a failed idea that no one but a tiny tiny minority of players could ever enjoy. Get rid of it and don't bring it back. Ever.

I farm alot and I see it all. I've had players get mad at me. I've had players apologize for "infringing". I've had players tell me to get lost and had players ask if they can have some mobs.

I don't really see a problem overall but the one thing that does bother me is when players "kite" the mobs in one area, meaning they "tag" every mob to claim them and then AoE them or kill one at a time.

Btw, in Coerthas there is a GuildLeve "Necrologos: Cinerary Rite." which spawns a bunch of sheep, once you kill 5 the Pudding Boss spawns which sometimes drops Pudding Flesh which sells for a lot on the AH (It is needed for an Alchemy Guild Test and is hard to get).
If you have some Leve Allowances, it is a decent alternative for farming Fleece with no competition.

Welcome to the Final Fantasy forums, everyone is in competition for everything, and time is money :P there are considerate ppl who would be nice to you, and then there are jerks who just don't care what you do or think. But as long as their not violating their account or anything or harassing you in any other way it's just plain fair game on mobs. Imagine waiting on a 24hour spawn with 200 people there waiting to claim it all for themselves at the same time! N if it's bots report them square will get to them one year.

I farm mobs that drop mats that I need: this ranges from Aldgoats to Apkallu to Banemites to Karakuls and beyond. If someone is already there, I don't bother them, however if the spawns aren't occupied, you better believe I'm going to Aero and Holy as many clusters of mobs as possible. If you just walk in without saying anything and start killing mobs, I'm not obligated to oblige you. If I'm in a good mood I may offer to party up (you'll get a lot more chances at items with me AoEing mobs, this is me being nice), and if I'm offered, sure, what the hell, I'll party up usually.

But when you just come in and start tagging the mobs I'm obviously going for, you're just competition.
