    New 2.1 Content Semi-Revealed

    In the new letter from the developer set up (advertising for the 22nd), the following was said:

    Themes Enjoy a first glimpse of patch 2.1! Ascend the Crystal Tower and take a tour of Pharos Sirius via never-before-seen footage of these two new dungeons.

    Bear witness to the ferocity of Extreme Mode Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan, as well as the arrival of Good King Moggle Mog XII.

    The tenth letter LIVE will also introduce new features including duty roulette, the aesthetician, hard mode dungeons, and a hard mode encounter with a memorable foe from the main scenario.

    Anyone want to guess who the hard mode foe is? Gaius? Ultima Weapon? Also, any idea what the Pharos Sirius dungeon will be like?


    I'm aware of the "2.1 delayed" existing thread, but this is more about what you think about the content, not if the content is going to be delayed.

    Ultima or Labrea (however you spell his name..) are my guesses.. given Darnus HM from 1.0 some variant on Ultima would seem likely, I can't think of any other overly memorable stuff aside from the dragon in Brayflox.

    Some reddit people are guessing Siren (the one you had to briefly fight for a quest). That'd actually be pretty cool.

    I'd love to fight a proper version of Siren. That battle was such a joke, honestly :/

    Not as much as the final boss battle, but still pretty bad...

    I'm expecting the HM boss to be either Gaius or Lahabrea, but most likely the latter. The fight against him was like the True King Allant boss fight in Demons' Souls: meant for story purposes rather than to challenge you. Regardless of who, though, I can't wait to see what they do with it, since there's so much that they can do with either of them.

    As for the Pharos Sirius, I'm expecting something similar to the Pharos at Ridorana from FFXII. You'll climb up the lighthouse, and each floor will have a boss that you need to beat to move on to the next floor. I'm also assuming it'll have mechanics similar to WP in that you need to activate various machines to proceed throughout the dungeon. And heck, maybe if they make an HM version of this later we'll get to go to the bottom of it and fight the Shadowlord from FFXII, too, haha! But that's just 'cause I loved that fight.
