Grand Company Tanking Equipment beyond lvl 40 (and before AF)

I have a quick question for the forum. I am currently a lvl 43 PLD. I had been using my GC (Immortal Flames) armor and weapons as much as possible while leveling. I often found that stats were significantly better than other tanking equipment at the same level.
I recently decided to try using my GC Flame Sergeant's Tabard.
instead of my Mythril Curiass. I upgraded some other equipment at the same time to make up for the Magic Def. loss.
I just happened to see on some older websites that the Flame Sergeant's Tabard is -20 Enmity. Does anyone know if this is true? I certainly don't want any equipment tanking that will lower my enmity. I would greatly appreciate any input from more experienced players. Thank you in advance.

You'll probably blow through the levels so fast it won't matter. Save your points/gil for endgame.

I don't think so but I can't say for sure, there are no other sets that have a special effect like that currently to my knowledge. Anyways you should focus on the gear that is meant for tanks, gear listed for gld pal mrd war. Defense and tanks stats will take you the furthest as a tank. Second AF gear will make most of this unimportant for you shortly.

Many items had their stats radically changed between 1.0 and ARR. The -20 enmity was the old stats. Now, that said, I don't think you should have snagged that as a tank. That gear was made for DPS classes, not tanks. You'll notice that not only is the magic defense lower, but the regular defense is considerably lower as well, especially compared to an HQ version (When comparing crafted items to non-crafted, you should always use the HQ to get an equal comparison).

Honestly, GC gear is so across the board that you shouldn't consider it much when gearing things. You may be able to find a piece or two that fit your class, but trying to make a set to take advantage of the bonus can be... annoying.

I really hate the GC gear. Got a set around level 20 and and have since traded it in for seals. I just spent all my seals buying chocobo barding. Next will be the minion.
