Well, in the last live letter they said they will be hosting approximately 1 live letter each month up until the release of 2.1. That sounds like quite a few months to me... Also judging from the myth cap, people wont be reaching full myth gear until maybe 2 months from now. At that point we should start expecting the release imo.
I have to admit i personally feel like SE is toying with their customers, intentionally sprouting the idea that 2.1 is going to be released very soon. If it was going to be released soon, there would be a date announced for it. Atleats thats what my logic says... I would expect the release around february or even march to be honest. Just my hunch, nothing more.
If you don't agree with the way they are releasing content, you can always stop paying. It may take them awhile to get their grooves when it comes to update. You can also not have to play the game every month and take a break. This is not a game you play every day for every week of every month. You pay when patches are being released, otherwise stop paying and do something else![]()
I am mainly subbing each month just cause i want to get proper gear for pvp before its released, cause pvp is what i enjoy the most in mmorpgs. This means i am pretty much paying just to reach the myth cap each week. I am not that happy with this situation.. and i believe it is understandable. Will prolly unsub next month..If you don't agree with the way they are releasing content, you can always stop paying. It may take them awhile to get their grooves when it comes to update. I hope not, I can't see myself to WP another month...

It's the fact that the child knows the candy is there, yet gated behind the requirement of a dinner that doesn't compare to the candy sweetness that causes the I WANT IT NOW mentality. The live letters are the candy that SE places ever so out of reach, yet continually reminds us of their existence every month with brilliant screenshots, art pieces and in-game previews. Most of which are delightfully unexplained, which allows gamers to ponder and marvel at possibilities."in it's prime."
FF14 just opened a few months ago and you guys want perfection on everything? They are still debugging current content in prep for the future 2.1 update. FF11 was no where near perfect when released. Rather have smooth running content with as little bugs as possible rather then some cluster of coding that explodes when you enter an instance. I can wait another month for things to be running smoothly. Everyone here crying about the delay reminds me of little kids asking their moms for candy before dinner and getting rejected. "MOM BUT I WANT IT NOWWWWW."
Now say if the dinner was equally as delectable as the candy, then perhaps the child wouldn't be as demanding. For many players that isn't the case right now, as you should consider that 2.1 is not just a content patch. It contains many improvements, UI additions and extra activities that the current end-game lacks for many players.
One could say that the amount of time they are spending polishing and adding to 2.1 is a sign that the current 2.0 has many elements that are lackluster and need something more. Such as the current state of Duty Finder and the growth of rude/abusive playerbases.
I'm fine with waiting myself, but even the most patient child would get annoyed with the constant teasing of something betterMy only gripe is waiting 6 months to get my own house. Also typing this reply has made me hungry.
I think its funny that with every announcement people look for anything that might hint at a delay. I play other games outside of this game so a delay isn't my main concern. lol
I would have been totally fine with waiting 6 or even 9 months for the release of ARR if that meant getting a finished, polished MMO (with PvP, Housing, more dungeons, right-clic features, a secured server-side, a better netcode…) worthy of comparison with the best titles in terms of gameplay consistency (worldwide), endgame content variety, and replayability (a decent alternative to FATE).
Hell, they could have skipped the PS3 altogether and focus entirely on PC/PS4 for that matter, saving time (before release) and probable future complications (managing many different platforms, among which the PS3 is quite an alien architecture to accommodate for the game's engine, which they must now support until the very end). It could have been a much more robust product to begin with. Granted, they might have sold a bit less boxes at launch, due to the PS4 installed base being much smaller than the PS3, but in the long run (think from now until 2020…), I'm confident this would have been a pretty sound business and technical call.
“Focus on the journey, not the destination.
Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
If all this is true then why does the game continue to get new subs each day?Square, i know you're reading this.
Let me give you some advice.
Release the content, which is done, now. Don't pack it all together and release something, anything that's done, immediatly.
Even the new players get tired of the same stuff everyday. This does not look good at all. Reconsider this.
In one month, pretty much everybody will just stand in Mor Dhona and slowly lose interest in ARR. You WILL lose a lot of subs because of this.
And they will not come back thanks to the new console generation.
If SE releases a small amount of content here and there instead of a bunch all at once people will still complain because the content is too little or not enough to entertain them because they are too hardcore for a single dungeon or a couple of new gear to buy.Only properly tested content. He is right, everything thats done and tested should be released in shorter updates. A lot of games do this, SE should be able to do it too.
I mean, we can wait for CT and stuff, but things like those grouping boards should be released ASAP (properly tested). Delay some of the content because the other one is not ready is a bad idea IMO.
