To be honest Square Enix did not say this game would be the best or up to anyones expectation. Hells they didn't even advertise this game, you only heard about it in forums or people. I'm playing for free as it stands, i'm happy enough. Square Enix will have to play catch up via updates.
This is not true. Check sig.To be honest Square Enix did not say this game would be the best or up to anyones expectation. Define the best? It is the largest and makes the most money.... i'd say at least in the companies eye that is the "best".
Best is a relative term that is different from person to person. Though saying it will take down wow, all the making of the realm videos... they had big hopes. Then again so did all the players on day 1.

What happened was square forgot the toothpaste in the bathroom and because of this work on FFXIV was delayed, then when they got some new toothbrushes from the dentist they got eaten by a rouge chocobo. Several tooth related events later, we find that square has not only forgot to brush it's teeth, but they forgot to brush the games teeth as well. So you see, after square makes a new appointment at the dentist for them and the game, it will all be better.
And that's where babies come from.
In my personal opinion SE lack of a wide 360° scan on MMO world, if you check JP-Button site update history archive of FFXI they are doing the same things as 9 years ago. If you want to be competitive you have to look around and put away your conservative point of view on how to develop a MMO. Anyway I'm glad of all this updates and I think that If the game was released as the state that is now things would be gone differently.

Actually the problem is the opposite. They have been too original and thrown any kind of conservativism to the bushes. Most of the complaints about FFXIV features are from players that would want a less original/more conservative approach. In my personal opinion SE lack of a wide 360° scan on MMO world, if you check JP-Button site update history archive of FFXI they are doing the same things as 9 years ago. I already defined it "quality-wise".Define the best? It is the largest and makes the most money.... i'd say at least in the companies eye that is the "best".

Quality and popularity almost never end up being the same thing.

If i remember right they start working on FFXIV when COP was done for FFXI, but took them a long time to come up with the crystal tools then they start working on FFXIV 1-2 before they said it on E3 but all the work and gameplay was done around that year so this game should have came out at least nov.?.2011 for sure. I feel that this game could give us something others game do.
The others talking about how rift kick out it's release good and most of the issue was fix and the game came out great. Well it's pretty easy to take out a game when 60% of the work was done it's just a wow clone in every way. All they had to do is make there own storyline, areas, look but the tree the class are a mix of WOW and FFXI the tree system seem a lot like wow mix with FFXIV hybrid system. I really don't like rift myself and not saying it's not a bad game but it's a wow clone in many ways.
I expect that, like FFXI, a year after launch we'll have a totally different and much more enjoyable game. And then we'll all kick back and be like "hey, you remember that time when there were no sidequests?" and the newbies will be like WHAT YOU SAY?! And then we'll all sing Kum-ba-ya right before riding off to an epic dungeon crawl on our chocobos.
