I agree. One of the main reasons that I played FFXI and currently play FFXIV is because I have the ability to use a controller and sit back/relax rather than be hunched up to my keyboard and mouse.

They could use a little more love when it comes to the controller interface though. It is pretty damn good considering, but there are situations that are not as streamlined as they could be, though I would wager that these will be addressed before the PS3 release.

I use a Gamestop branded USB PS3 controller and it works amazingly (despite the poor reviews of the controller). Since its USB it doesn't require any special drivers, and has the added bonus of the extra "PS" button (versus a PS2 controller) which works perfectly for me as my engage/disengage combat button.

I tried using an Official PS3 controller, but no matter what drivers I found, I always had an issue with the controller powering on and syncing with my PS3 unless I unplugged it (in which case it works fine, but is a hassle to do every time)

For this i suggest to use the the same button (Y) while holding the autorun button.
that command already changes the targeting mode in targeting mode a. However why not just open the menu and press sideways with the d pad to get to the seperate menus or the trigger buttons inside the menu.

I use my PS3 Control when I play FFXIV on the PC I use a program called "Motionjoy" its masks my PS3 controller as an Xbox 360 controller Motionjoy allows me to use my PS3 control with almost every PC game I have. I have a 6 foot USB type B cord I got from my Intuos4 tablet and I play FFXIV on my couch on my 52 inch Sony Bravia at 1080p I will never play it any other way EVER FFXIV plays great for me with this set up I never use the mouse at all

What about the USB cord that comes with the PS3, will that work just the same?

The regular cord that comes with the PS3 works just fine it's just too short I'm sure you can hit a radio shack for a longer one, before I got my TV I was using the given PS3 controller cord on my computer desk but I ultimately wanted a set up where I could play on my recliner or couch which I have now. I'm also using the old Six-axes PS3 control with no dualshock it's lighter in my opinion and I don't wanna mess with Motionjoy's Vibrate option besides on my Ps3 I have the Vibration turned off. I'm not to big on the Vibrating function it doesn't enhance my gameplay it annoys my hands.

The game needs a ton of gamepad optimizations... I suggest /stop... maybe it has already been suggested. dunno. I hate the hotbar though. I wish it dead. The main reason I chose XIV is gamepad support...
