    Tbh I feel like for a major update, what we know so far doesn't seem " majorish". I have a strong feeling they are going to surprise us with something. Like how they kept Scholar under wraps till when it got leaked. What we know so far is the 2.1 "preview". I believe there's going to be more than what we know currently.

    Pre-Patch Preview

    A Preview is a sample of what the whole patch will be made of. ( Next live Letter we will see most of what's going to be made available via 2.1)

    Introducing 2 game elements seems pretty major to me. Only thing that is lackluster is the raiding department. But I agree, it really feels like they are hiding something from us.

    Hopefully the upcoming letter provides enough of a teaser of whatever they may or may not be hiding. I think players definitely need something good out of this letter to keep them interested in waiting for 2.1, even those that would like to be really invested in the game like myself.

    Pros 1 - Love the battle system and combo mechanics.

    Pros 2 - Love the music, (although some songs are not heard enough and some are not placed where they should.)

    Cons 1 - Hate the current endgame spam instances for tomes! (It's the WoW reputation but called tomes)

    Cons 2 - Hate the current endgame LOCKED content ! (It's like saying, we don't want to develop tough open world progressive content, we just want to make them log 1-2 days a week so then can give us the 14$ a month!)

    Cons 3 - Hate the leveling system with a passion. (FATE)

    Cons 4 - NO open world content/endgame. (NM/HNM/poped bosses)

    TLDR - Don't make the endgame daily/rep/tomes grind a la WoW, it's clearly dying. That system is going away in WoW and in upcomming MMO'S.

    (Better have 500k year long subscribers then 1M 3 months subscribers!)

    More ways to level than FATEs it's just the trend and most people follow. I personally hate FATEs and I don't do them, I dungeon/levequests/hunting log/ certain guildhests and got 1-41 in roughly 2 weeks. You don't need to do FATEs it's just this games trend.

    PS: I don't understand why people use FATEs when they dislike them. Sure it's fast, but if its not entertaining why bother.

    I know, but seriously, not enough sidequests, leveled monk and paladin and i've cleared all of them. Leves are ok, but boring after the same 10 times. Dungeons are boring after 3-5 times.

    What i'm gona say might get ppl angry but anyways, this is what i want.

    XP Parties^^ make it easier then XI, meaning that 2-4 ppl can "XP party" and have decent amount.

    This is an MMO for christ sake ! Soloing should not be better or even equivalent to GRPed content! (Fates are not GPR content)

    You can, in Mor Dhona I can solo for a good 400 exp a kill in a party it's probably 320 exp.

    While I personally can give 2 hoots about the FC housing(I want my own place damnit) the content in 2.1 will be good for some time to me.
    The 3 extreme mode fights, moogle mog, 2 HM dungeons(curious to what they are, just hoping its not AK/WP HM) the new dungeon and CT. While yes it is a step back from the Allagan and AF 1.5 gear it's meant to be a supplement for other jobs and if you really need a piece for your main. That and I enjoy having fun and not acting like the game is "super srs guise."
    While I wish there was a better way to level outside of FATES as DD since I follow a strict rule for now which is "Dungeons and FATES are for DoW/DoM and leves are for Crafting/Gathering" and on a fairly populated server like Tonberry you pretty much gotta be in a group to get anything above bronze so you can't queue up for a dungeon while FATEing it up. I Also don't want some boring ass 4k an hour pt bull crap that was FFXI.

    If you're going to post the negative, please state the positives too in order to keep the thread balanced. That way it's not deleted at 4 am by the DEV team.
    The mods don't delete posts/threads for being negative. They are only deleted for rule breaking e.g. curse-laden posts etc. People can express negative opinions without being rude/inappropriate.

    That's not entirely true, there is open world content in the form of FATES of all kinds, including rare ones (HNMs). Traditional NMs like XI would never work due to the pace of the game and the claim system. I do feel like guildhests should have been kept in-world and not instanced though (Even still, there needs to be more of them and up the rewards). Just because an NM has a fate bubble around it doesn't mean it's not an NM.

    The best thing for me in both XI and XIV is the job system, not needing to create multiple characters to play the different jobs. I like how most content doesn't require several hours of your time like Dynamis originally did in XI, along with the early HNMs which required you to stand around and do nothing for hours to even see, much less fight. I also feel like the main story was very strong for an MMO and one of the game's greatest strengths- I look forward to it continuing in upcoming patches.

    The main cons for me are just the bugs and glitches and frequent maintenance. I don't consider lack of content a con as we are still in the early stages and the first major content patch is still incoming. Oh, well the RMT are really annoying too.
