Speaking of additional fees to play this game, I hear PS4 will require a Playstation Plus subscription, much like the Xbox requiring Xbox Live, in order to play Online multiplayer games. Is it going to affect FFXIV?

It's true you will have to pay now for playstation plus in order to play multiplayer. But sony already said that this won't be the case for mmorpgs and free to play games.

At least that is the information I have. If I'm wrong somebody please correct me.

I see a lot of people spouting this as a selling point for the ps4. I wonder how many ps4 owners will truly not pay for the online service since the system is integrated with it so heavily. I'd be willing to be an extremely small number of people will ever use the system in this way. Not a very big selling point for me.

Seriously, in light of what we know about MS apparent contempt for both players and privacy, why would anyone buy a Xboxone?

In regards to PSN requirement, Sony also stated that it's up to the developers themselves whether they want to carry the line or keep things free. I'm pretty sure Sony developed titles will require the service, though.
