If your gathering class is only lvl6, then you can't expect to make much gil. You can make some gil, sure, but not enough to support a full-blown character. There are many ways to make gil, but there is work that needs to be done before you get to the point where you can make a good amount of gil. If not we'd all be rich by lvl6.

Here's some tips to maximize your gil, tip #1 STOP TELEPORTING - Until SE fixes the horribly over-priced teleport fees or brings back anima then start chocoboing or airshipping everywhere, the amount of gil you can save by doing this is very significant for low/mid level characters (anima would be the BEST solution, hands down.) Tip #2 - Stop binding gear and sell them in the marketboards - Here's what you do, check online or in the app to see what rewards you will have to choose from in all the quests you plan doing that day. Then check all the marketboard value of each gear/weapon/reward for the quest and sell those pieces. You can make an easy 50K or more just by selling the rewards of quests lvl1-20, if you do the proper research, which means also checking how often things sell versus how many are up versus how much you can overcharge before it won't sell. Tip #3 - Farm drops - Check the marketboards to find out what sells quickly and for a lot of gil, then kill tons of those mobs as your highest level job. Remember, the goal is the drops, not to gain experience for a lower level job. Tip #4 - Similiar to tip #3, do some marketboard research to find out what synthing supplies are in high demand and selling for a giant profit, then synth what sells. Tip #5 - get to a higher level than 6 before losing hope/panicing. lol

One thing I have found useful is the the concept of "crafting bottlenecks". For each craft, there comes a point where the raw materials are no longer sold by the guild supplier. To advance, the craftsman either needs to gather or craft these things themselves, or search for them on the market board. Some bottlenecks I have experienced are Iron Ingots, Aldgoat leather, Diremite Webs and Fish Glue. There are also plenty of Culinarian bottlenecks, which require materials a good Botanist or Fisher can easily supply. Just the other night, I sold a stack of 99 Ruby Tomatoes for a nice little profit.

Another thing to keep in mind is that, if your unit price is high, you may benefit by selling smaller stacks. Most lower level players are chronically short of cash, and are more likely to spend 5,000 for a stack of 25 200-gil Iron Ingots than 19,800 for a stack of 99. (I call this the "Home Depot" effect -- if you're going to Home Depot, you probably don't want a 25-pound bag of nails.)

cooking makes great profit, especially the level 40ish food that boost crafting/gathering. If you got the high enough botany skill and willing to spend some time, Tomato Pies were selling for 15k a stack.

Indeed there is, you can see certain things are almost always needed and will sell well like ingots, walnut lumber e.t.c. The easiest way is if you have 50 in a DOL you can gather clusters and sell them.

selling titan carries, selling stuff from leveling professions and philosophy (20-22k) items

also you can't sell level 6 stuff because npcs sell level 6 stuff. get a gathering profession and a crafting profession, HQ items and sell them. you can also get a bit of money from levequests although its only like 1k gil. AK and WP both drop money now, but i'd only suggest that method of acquiring money if you really like wp and selling philo items

That's hilarious! Some people really don't know how to shop. (Time to start flipping Chicken Eggs? Hmmm...)

I won almost 1M gils last month with DoW and DoM HQ items (armours, weapons, jewelry). I get shards from leves, I make my own materials with my crafters and gatherer.

I don't sell craft's stuff (equip or food) because it has no sense. Those items has better prices, but I would be helping to my competition.
