Rare one time item went to player in another job?

Maybe you accidently rolled Greed and just thought you rolled Need?

Either you did hit greed instead of need... or (and) it was actually the summoners Book that dropped and not yours... or you did leave the instance before you received loot. Thats a common mistake. A friend of mine did get a garuda-weapon with "greed" because the person who would have won via need (he did not yet have that weapon, he did have a lower level weapon equipped) did quit before he won the roll.

Those are the only 3 explanations I can think about.

Never heard about a bug with the books... and since I got both books I can confirm, that you can only click need on the correct book for your job you are on.

Maybe it was the other book that dropped and you mistook it at first glance? Never heard of this before. Unless someone was able to switch jobs and need it, which I don't think you can do in an instance.

Did you possibly leave the dungeon before everyone had rolled? That causes you to forfeit an item.

There is text that says like "Deidra Moonmayden rolls Need 50", "Soandso rolls Need 20", or greed, or something like that. Have not seen mention of it yet, but it would go a long ways toward explaining. I assume you don't know what that text said -- just that you don't have the item now. In that case, it's mostly impossible to actually know what happened. Some possibilities were mentioned already (left instance before roll finished, clicked Greed by accident, bug, etc).

Ifrit drops two separate books, one for sch and one for smn. I have each in my inv at the same time.

One of the other player congratulated me( thought it was me) on my book. It was for the scholar because it was the codex. I can't say what happened actually though I didn't leave until the loot icon cleared. I never do and I always pass if it's not my weapon. I have never had a problem with the greed and need buttons before so honestly I didn't consider it. I will just keep trying I suppose. Ty for your help guys

Was it a SMN that got it? I noticed in a Brayflox run that SMN and I imagine SCH can remove their soul crystals in instance because I came in at Eft boss and the SMNs had downgraded to ARN to Topaz tank. After the boss they switched back and popped Ifrits. Can ARNs remove SMN crystal and put on SCH?
