Tbh, alot of it may come from them being brow-beat by randos for not chain pulling enough. I know I was when I started.

I think it's more along the lines that the good tanks have been scooped up by various fc's and groups of "friends". They don't need to run DF because they have everything they want/need already. And that is the proper solution to being stuck with idiot tanks constantly, find yourself a competent group and stop relying on randoms.
Since this game is one of the more grindy games out at the moment, speedruns are very popular.
I think I tank for you before OP, maybe. It's just the norm, everyone expects tanks to speed run and most of the time we are the ones that get rushed to do it. Most of the players run wp often already and it has become just mindless farming.

It takes something like 40 WP runs to fully darklight a job.
We can do that in 40 minutes each (normal pulls) = 1600 minutes which is... 27 hours or we can do it in 20 minutes (easily!) so half the time.
Great groups can do it in less than 15 minutes.
Sure, every once in a while, the tank might die and that sets you back 5 minutes, but it's worth it.
Don't blame the players for wanting a droll task to be faster, and more fun.

WP can be done in 20 minutes with normal pulls and without rushing and/or pulling all rooms at once, unless something goes wrong (it can happen, we are not machines). If you really rush it, it should take you a bit more than 10 min., or even less if all party members have good gear and the run goes smoothly (yeah, like in the famous video). But whatever, what I'm saying is that you don't have to rush it, or force anyone to do it, to do a fast 20 min. run. That's how I usually do it with my FC, unless someone is in a hurry and we all agree to make it fast.
Anyway, what I find amusing is that some people go into the DF to do a speedrun. Are they aware that with a random party of strangers that aren't used to play together (or even if just one of them is not used to play with the rest), if they try to rush it they're increasing their chances to wipe and it would take them more time to finish the dungeon? And that's if they even finish it.
And yes, some of us (tanks) don't use the DF anymore thanks to some people's attitudes. I used to do random dungeons just for the sake of helping with the shortage of tanks, but nowadays I just do my weekly WP/AK runs with my FC (plenty of tomestomes), or help them when they need it. I'm terribly sorry for that myself, but I couldn't take it anymore when I was having fun just in a handful of runs. I play to have fun, not to be stressed by a random bot/jerk, and/or to see how they belittle any other party member. I gave them almost three months of opportunities, though :P
Yeah no, an average group isn't going to clear it around the 10 minute mark if they rush, and most DF groups won't be beating 20 with normal pulls.

They should be able to, if they're really tired of doing it like some of them claim. I've done it in 20 something mins. with people using Ifrit's weapons, which in my opinion are the starter endgame weapons (easier ones to get at 50), and a mix of WP-AK-DL gear. It requires a decent and somewhat experienced group though (I was never talking about the DF there, as I said in that same paragraph that I do it with my FC), but it should be a non issue if they've really done the dungeon 892734892 times as to feel the need to rush it. Otherwise it's just what you said earlier: they saw (or read about) a random video and they want to do it themselves with worse gear and/or using the DF (bad idea), which is what the OP is talking about. A simple case of the "IwantitNAO" syndrome, people eager to get things done ASAP but that fail to see the shortcomings of their intended plans
Just to mention it, some of my WP runs were a disaster (the first ones, above all, with our noobishness with the dungeon and our AF gear) or took a long time to finish, but I never expected to end them in 20 minutes, specially when using the DF. But some people lack the patience to improve their characters and themselves, or to let others do so, and then you have all these horror stories and threads about things that people do in the DF.

So long as the PT knows its a SR the tank should be running out in front. As a healer they should be following close behind and ready to Divine Seal + Swiftcast + Cure II > Regen while the DD's catch up and start burning down the group. A better healer can even after getting the Tank back up get a SS popped off > Cleric Stance > PoM > Holy spam > Shroud > Cleric Off > DS > SC > Cure II.
Its all in the group and rotations though....the Tank always plays the same way, if the AOE DPS is low...then the healer has to adapt and can't heal the same way.
Seriously...
Just go to revenant's toll and ask for a non speed run of wp. You'll find one just as quickly as using the DF most times.
Or join a FC who don't concentrate on speed runs.
