Super Noob Q about gearing as you level...

Hi all,

I'm level 18 and find myself horribly under-geared (most armor etc is still only lvl 8-12). I have been doing Quests, Fates, and Battlecraft Leves to level up so far. I've noticed that gear does not drop from mob kills, at least none that I've seen so far (odd). Sooo...

Is there something else I should be doing to get gear drops?

Do your story quest, unlock duty dungeons (vl 15 - Sastasha - for example). From there green and pink gear drops so after bunch of runs you will be geared a lot better then you are now...
Otherwise buy gear from merchants or market or level up crafters to make gear yourself...

In the market areas of each city there is a Market Board that you can use to buy items from other players.

However, I would recommend checking any Merchants in whatever area your main storyline quests are currently taking place. They will almost always have level-appropriate gear for that point in the story and might be cheaper than player-crafted gear.

If you do your side quests along side your story quests you will have adequate gear through level 50 to do all dungeons.

Mostly if your trying to save gil the class quests, and side quests offer free gear, I like to run the dungeons multiple times for gear, and accessories like earring, bracelets etc, even battle leves sometimes drop random gear in treasure caskets as well.

Then the guild quests are the way to go if you're conserving gil. Leves also give gear and certain items or gil for completing those quests.
