Garlean empire faction in the future idea ( may contain spoilers )

okay as we know the garlean empire has been cast away as not being the main enemy in the game thanks to ascians but does that mean the empire has to stop there? No im thinking that in a future expansion the ascians cause devastation in Garlemald where they are taking over powerful military advisers bodies like lahabreah did with thancred thus causing corruption and some of the empire rebel and decide to join the eorzian alliance but they are there own faction, with this expansion could bring new classes , maps , and a new garlean empire rebel faction that people can join where the players learn how to use magiteck equipment and learn how to make magiteck themselves. Also the rebel faction could have unique armor seperate from the rest of the alliance

    yes im an empire fanboy

Don't be so quick to dismiss them as a threat. The cutscene at the end of Coil suggests they may have a new technology... one much worse than Ultima Weapon.

We already have rebel Garleans anyway: Cid, Biggs and Wedge.

Even if they were evil, I wouldn't mind being a bad guy!

    spoilers

The story would have been a lot more interesting had Garlemard convinced you to join their forces. Here he had a weapon that was capable of ending the primal threat once and for all and bringing peace and order to Eorzea and fixing what the Garleans started. Instead we get "HERP DERP FREEDOM", a load-bearing boss, and seeing my character's blank stare as she jumps out an exploding tunnel. Seeing Ultima bite off Garuda's head was the crowning moment of awesome in the story. It felt like a pity to kill it and see the beastmen undo all my hard work by summoning primals again.

The thing is though - Garlemald isn't after the destruction of the Primals, they're little more than a tiny nation of magic-poor technocrats with an inferiority complex a mile wide. They crave little more than conquest - nothing more (sure the Emperor issued a mandate 'for their destruction', but that could easily be handwaved as just an example of fear-mongering by a nation who are frightened of facing a force more powerful than them).

Yes the Primals are dangerous, but really, everything that has gone wrong in Eorzea has been the direct result of the Garlean Empire's meddling/attempts at invasion, dating back to the annexation of Ala Mhigo and the Battle of Silvertear Falls (the Primals would still be sealed in the lake if stupid Gaius hadn't come calling with the Agrius in 1562 6AE).

Besides, this a FF game, not WoW. There is no 'Horde/Alliance' here. We are all on the same side here.

Which seems a bit perplexing. Why would he let his empire crumble, and some of his best soldiers die if he had a weapon better than what he had boasted and committed his life to in the story? I haven't done Coil yet, so I can't really go into an argument about it, but it feels like there is something that is missing with this story.

I don't think it has anything to do with wow, just because it's a FF game means I can't choose to be good or evil? I'm forced to walk down that "Good old adventure path" Maybe that's not the type of person I would be... Wow imo has nothing to do with wanting to be part of the Garlean Empire. At least coming from someone who hasn't played wow..

Wasn't there a thread about the good possibility of the main protagonist possibly being considered as evil, due to how the story plays out?
