Yes but when does responsivness go too far?

This game's already far more twitch-reaction based and far less strategy based than what has existed previously in both single and MMO based Final Fantasies. Which is fine, to some degree, but asking for an instant-reaction immunity to most attacks without wind up, or pretty much any balancing factor aside from cooldown? No, I think that steps too far.


There needs to be abilities, on separate cool-downs, that do not function instantly. Benediction and Hallowed Grounds are powerful skills that can, and pretty much do reset the encounter. In many cases that turns the "osh*t" button into an "iwin" button, because you used a cheap one off skill to circumvent the hardest part of the fight for you. There's no skill on any other job that matches these two for usefulness and there ARE wind ups to plenty of other lesser skills.

Again, I'm standing firm in the position that the error here is that the tooltip lists 'instant' rather than a cast time. These abilities do not need changing, nor should they really be reliant crutches you press only in an emergency.

Otherwise, if so, then other skills sharing the same level 50 Job Skill slot need immediate and substantial buffs, cause right now, even with the wind up, there are no better skills for combat resets then Benediction and Hallowed Ground, not short of hinting Limit Break Territory, which these skills are fairly close to being well on their own.

This complaining is starting to sound less like an actual mechanical issue and more about people having sour grapes for getting a bit of bad luck and not having opportunity to react quickly enough. I can agree as far is that players can feel slighted that it does not function as advertised. That does not mean, however that the ability is broken for its intended purpose.
