It amazes me to see how often people actually suggest this on the forum. Maybe they secretly hope that if all the "complainers" leave then SE will have to fix the game to get them back. I'm starting to think that's what's going to happen eventually at this rate. Still holding out hope here that it'll turn around, but I see more and more people getting discouraged. SE has to do something big to retain players (preferably making the game more friendly to the armoury system -- multiple classes on one character should be an inherent content longevity multiplier). You can't get away with putting out an MMO without significant content anymore in this market. Other games have tried and it almost never pans out. Unless 2.1 is a miracle patch (fingers crossed) I know a lot of people are going to be quitting.

I just spent like 5 hours giving away HQ upgrades to random gatherers whenever I went to a zone. It really is quite gratifying. There's ALWAYS something you can do, in general, people just aren't that creative OR altruistic, though.

Can you come to my server and just donate money for my free company house as well as craft me the Monk Armor set (I don't care if it is HQ or not). That is a choice EVERYONE can do however nobody is doing that. I agree they are not that creative or altruistic to play to be my sugarmama/daddy.
