I'll agree with an earlier post in the thread. Trash pulls are hectic and often stressful, boss fights are relaxing (most the time). I imagine as a healer it would be opposite of that, with trash being easier (assuming the tank is holding aggro), and the boss being more stressful on high movement fights... Having played both in various MMOs, I would say both are about equal in terms of pressure/difficulty. They just get the pressure in different ways.

Because there are 2 tank, 1 healer and 5 dd classes. And dd wait in DF approximately same time, as needed for run. So, I need 2*x time for leveling tank classes, 1*x time for leveling healer class and 5*2*x = 10*x to level dd classes. So I need 5 times more time to level dd classes than tank classes, even if playing all classes evenly.

So. As a tank, you should always remember that even though you're setting the pace of a run, you aren't actually obligated to constantly plow forward. Pace yourself by setting target markers before each pull, ensuring everyone is catching up, and assessing the terrain. This'll get easier with time.

To new tanks in new dungeons, please take this advice: Do NOT hesitate to tell your group that this is your first run, and that you will be taking it slow and steady. On very rare occasions you'll get a gripe or two, but even that is preferable to charging in blindly and slipping up because you're feeling the weight of expectation too hard.

Truth is, most people will appreciate the heads-up far more than if you hadn't. But, if someone complains after you tell them that? Screw 'em. People with that attitude aren't worth getting "approval" from. People who respect you, on the other hand, might very well become your best friends for the action to come.

With healer a lot of things get unpredictable, you never know when someone will take unexpected damage or become careless and need spam healing. many thing can happen to keep healers on their toes, with tanks it's pretty much set in stone what is going to happen, and you are heavily dependent on not only your healer keeping you alive but DPS to make sure the battle does not drag out to long. I can't imagine anything more boring then playing as tank. and to add you have so much pressure if you fail. at least as healer i can sometimes carry bad tanks and DPS. can't do that as tank. if they fail. you fail.

Tanking became boring since I did it too much because nobody else was a tank. So now I go switching between all classes to keep things interesting.

Tanking would be a lot easier if my Relic geared SMN couldn't gain more threat than my Relic geared PLD >.>

I think tanks have enough to worry about than to play the threat game, I don't think it's fun to have to fight your teammates to try and gain agro on everything, especially when they're well geared. I have no trouble with boss fights, even HM Titan was easy and I only had 1 piece of DL gear, but trash is ridiculous. And it makes me feel like I'm failing as a tank when they go every which way

Same reason as OP. I don't want to be the dungeon encyclopedia.

Could be they are also a pig to level. As White Mage I get 6K for a fate when everyone else gets 20K I don't know what it's like for Tank.

You get disgusting amounts of EXP because of flash. Reason why you see a lot of non upgraded base classes at 30-50 is because of flash.

I remember when I started paladin tanking in WoW in TBC. I recall it being very frustration keeping enmity on multiple mobs because I couldn't use aoe because it would break CC. After running many dungeons getting the required gear to become uncrushable things got a lot easier. I was able to start aoe tanking and run dungeons really fast where warriors could not do that easily. I started to love tanking then because I never had to worry about being in a party with a bad tank. I had complete control of the flow of the dungeon.

Today I'm pretty much a master at tanking and still love it. It really doesn't matter what the make up of the rest of the party is in regular dungeons, they just need to be somewhat competent and we can easily clear it. When I go with my FC members the DDs and healers don't need to hold back and don't have to attack the same target... (I still prefer them to attack the same target though) . I hear horror stories from them when they do a dungeon without me since they are used to my tanking style

This is why I am a tank.

My Tips for being a good tank when leveling though dungeons:
    1. Upgrade your gear. Just simple upgrades can make a world of difference in increasing your enmity generation and making you easy to heal. I usually upgrade my weapon before entering a new dungeon and run the dungeon multiple times to get a few pieces.
    2. Look up a guide for a dungeon you haven't been to before; chances are you end up with all new people who don't know the dungeon. Later dungeons have mechanics that can easily wipe party for those who are not aware of them. New dungeons are a lot less stressful when you know what to expect.
    3. Do small explanations of key mechanics of bosses that could wipe the party to new players.
    4. flash/overpower multiple times for 3+ mobs so that the healer never takes a mob from you. Switch to combo rotation against mobs DDs are targeting. I rarely use Riot Blade unless a blow all my mana from 4+ mobs where BLMs are aoeing. If someone pulls a mob wait for 2nd or 3rd combo move before using provoke then follow it up by these.

There's light at the end of the tunnel once you get pass the stressful part of learning to tank.
