don't care what they call it but a class/job that dual wields swords guns or daggersthen I'm happy
I agree it can be a gladiator job, it actually would fit perfectly fine in there, but I'd like to see RDM have it's own class to spring out of. It would also give the devs a chance to introduce another tank job with rune fencer. I'm actually leveling gladiator just in case they make it a GLD job =p (RDM is my favorite lol).
I also meant 2H katanas when I said that, samurai with 1H katana? Pfft =p I was just suggesting that since Samurai also used polearms that they could come from that, and 2H katana becomes their main weapon (also their relic), but are able to use lances as well. Not sure if that would every happen, but yeah, just threw it out there.
2H sword job would be cool Soldier -> DRK and SAM would work. SAM tank and DRK DPS.
DRK could also come from Lancer though, LNC does get blood for blood after all (defense weakens for increased attack). DRK would get soul eater and whatnot (HP-> ATK+). Not sure if DRK would a tank from LNC though, DRK is almost always a DD job (I think one exception was FF Dimensions, where it's a tank). But that's all speculation.
In the end, I just really want Red Mage (and dancer lol).
Why does everyone in this game want more and new stuff? There are plenty of people who started 2.0 that have at least 1 job to 50 and can't even play that or know basic party mechanics. I think new stuff too soon will just further increase the gap of players.
Most everyone on my server already shouts, "you need to have x weapon with x ilv with x cleared in order to join this party finder group". It's been this way since about a month after launch. While it isn't as annoying, it can still be frustrating to see and discouraging. I think new jobs would b great, but not anytime soon.:x
It's more of a speculation thread, just talking about what we'd like to see and how it might be implemented. Right now the only confirmed job we're getting in the near future (2.3ish I think, unless I missed something) is the gunner class/job, and we know next to nothing about it other than that it will likely be the first one we see.
Because they had said there will be new classes and new jobs before the expansion. The rationale is that many of the legacy players already had many classes to 50, so they needed to get some new stuff in for them. The general gist of what they've been saying is we'll get some new Jobs sooner rather than later. However, I think it's much more likely we'll see Jobs that extend existing classes added first (so more classes split into 2 jobs in the same way ACN -> SMN+SCH). They're easier for the devs to add than a full class and allows a lot of existing players to just jump in and start gearing it up (provided it can't use gear they already have). Why does everyone in this game want more and new stuff? Besides, it's FF and a lot of the draw is from the atmosphere and nostalgia. People come here wanting to play specific Jobs. RDM, NIN, SAM, THF and DRK are very high on that list of iconic jobs people are looking forward to and expect to be in the game in the semi near future.
Either way, it's not really a big deal to even add a new class as far as gearing it up. 2.2 is a gear reset of sorts, since the weekly limits on myth, coil and (i'm assuming) CT will be lifted and newer stronger gear will be introduced. With how fast it is to level now (revamped dungeon xp + daily dungeon/guildhest), a dedicated player could probably have a new class leveled and full i90 in under a week.
Dungeon leveling is NOT fast as DPS in anyway. I'm waiting 20-30 minutes in que for maybe 15-20% experience. It could be fast if you already have a 50 (I heard other jobs get boosted experience until they reach the same level as your highest job. Is this correct?).
Right now it feels like an incredible grind, as I am almost out of quests, and no one is doing fates on my server.
It's been my experience that if nobody's doing fates, then the fates that don't involve bosses only take a few kills to actually complete them. I still think the RDM is going to be a tank.
