Just a quite update on info. It is definitely comcast and the problem is not limited to FFXIV. Various games and websites are having issues as well. My family can't log into only certain characters in WoW, for example.

Yep, I've been having issues since this started accessing certain websites (such as huffington post) but no problem with others (such as lodestone).
Bellevue & Comcast too. Actually I was in the game until midnight yesterday and everything was fine. But when I woke up this morning, I can only get a completely black launcher /cry
deleting FFXIV_BOOT.cfg won't work for me either

Did a tracert and straight ping on my server and it was just fine as far as I could tell. Seems to just be comcast screwing with the launcher and other websites.Bellevue & Comcast too. I'm in Bellevue with Comcast. Same problem. It's been working fine for a month and today my launcher is a completely black window. I'm #182 in line for Comcast chat.
Edit: Nonok's workaround did not work for me.

On chat with comcast now. They "strengthened my modem connection" and that seems to have fixed some of the web issues, but still not the launcher issue.
Edit: They are completely ignoring the launcher issue -.-
Final response:

Or you can contact our Signature Support at 877-443-3596 as they handle with networking issues beyond our normal scope of support. The team will be able to test the signal range and signal levels of your WiFi connection and manage your device remotely. The information you provided me will also be forwarded to them for reference."

One more for the WA Comcast - I'm in Tacoma. Get the launcher to load then nothing once I try to log in, like the button doesn't even exist. God damn Comcast.
Edit: Thankfully Nonok's workaround did the trick... But damn it shouldn't come to that!

Has anyone tried Square Enix support?
I submitted a ticket to Square Enix support. They seem to only work M-F.
I have had a flawless experience with the game until today.
All of a sudden I get a black screen when attempting to log in. Sometimes the lower part of the screen loads, but not the part that allows me to put in my user name and password.
My internet service is with COMCAST.
Please fix !
