Yet 90% of art of Cecil as a paladin also has him with no shield. Nor does his sprite display a shield. That kinda poops on your theory of concept art.

Touche, this is true. Oh well I'll just take my lumps like a man. I'd still prefer them to not have shields, though a one handed sword class with no shield would be pretty sweet.
