So I've been experiencing sporadic frame rates all throughout the game since launch, and I have yet to be able to identify where the problem is and how I can fix it. I have used stable revisions of nVidia drivers as well as testing every driver update to date. Nothing has improved.
I notice some areas I will get 60 fps (if I have vsync on), and when I start moving (can be nobody around) it will dip to 30-50. When I have vsync off, it is much more sporadic - ranging from 30-90 fps depending on movement and zone.
I have run everything at Max settings as well as Desktop High. There seems to be no difference in the two, regarding frame rate issues.
My setup:
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Formula Desktop Mobo - Intel Chipset
Memory:Kingston KHX2000 Mhz -6Gb
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU X 980 @ 4.0 Ghz OC
HDD: SanDisk Extreme SSD 240 GB SATA 6.0 Gb-s
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690(VRAM 4014 MB)
PSU: Corsair 1200Watt power supply
Monitor: Dell 30" @ 2560x1600
Overall temps are fine. When I monitor resources, nothing really gets high or exceeds 75% for GPU, Memory, CPU. My power settings are set to maximum in both windows and through nvidia control panel. Furthermore, this issue is an on-going problem within the community for most people with SLI setups.
For additional notes, people with similar SLI setups are having the same problem.
Case 1: I have the same issue but I'm running 2x GTX 670 4GB in SLI. I leave the graphic settings somewhere in between High Desktop and Standard Desktop to get consistent FPS.
Case 2: I have this same exact issue with 2 GTX 770's, 16gb ram, and an i7-2700k running at 4.8 OC, SSD.
My CPU is never even close to being used while the GTX's stay around 60-70%.
I've found half the settings don't even do anything. Things like HDR make no difference.
I can go to a zone and be at 150 FPS, then turn my camera 5-10 degrees and I'm down to 40-50 fps for no reason. The same exact stuff is on my screen.
I've chalked it all up to bad code at this point. I've not found anything that will help.
