Black screen of death

I am having difficulties playing FFXIV on PS3 because the screen is constantly going black. I can still see the compass, chat, and speak with people as well as use jobs, such as leatherworking, but obviously if I can't see I can't really play much. If I zone out into another location that will usually clear up the problem but sometimes that is impossible. Other than that, I simply need to log off and log back on. It's becoming unbearable. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
