WP is fun when you run with a good group who communicates and are all on the same page.I'm anxious about this as well. I've just finished my main story and have full AF, GC wep, and 2 DL acc. I want to ease into WP and not be expected to speed run...at least not until I'm geared better. Of course I haven't tried WP yet.
Side note: should I farm Ifrit wep first even for a traditional run?
It's one of my favorite dungeons.
Amdapor Keep is where things get a little more interesting.![]()

When I queue up with DF for WP, the first thing I do is check the gear of the others with me. If I see nothing but relics and at least one person with the ability to spam some serious aoe action, I do big pulls. I've never done a precise speed run of WP, but I've done 20-25 minute runs just because the power was there for them. If the gear of the others is on the lighter side, I don't even think of stressing them with big pulls. I stick to manageable pulls. A tank that wants to go faster in WP is understandable, but the tank should take the 10 seconds before starting to look at gear, look at what's been brought to the table, and see if it's even feasible in the first place, let alone wanted.

This is fair, although as always communication always makes for a smoother run.
Last night my experience (which caused me to start this thread) was myself (healer) and two DD's from my FC were all in TeamSpeak and suggested running WP run.
We just wanted to finish the night with a bit of fun and to get some tomes before logging out.
DF pops and we commence...
Tank is already running against the barrier and as soon as it clears, he's off.
He pulls the first pack, then heads to the stairs.
I hadn't even cast protect on the group.
So we type in party chat. "Slow down this is not a speed run, just wipe and lets start over." and all we get is... "WHERE'S THE F*#%!^& HEALS?".
We left and that was pretty much it, we just logged off on a down note, seeing as this was the 4th time in two nights we ran into this kind of issue.

Don't worry, just like most people starting out(like you) you'll start out wanting to go nice and slow. I don't blame you because of your gear, it would be hard to keep up with more then one pull of mobs. But once you get full DL and relic+1, and your still hammering this to get your AF+2 gear, you'll do a complete 180. You'll be praying to god you get a tank in the DF that has the gear to do multiple pulls, so that you can get through the dungeon. As a tank i do like most, and gear check people, if they are fully loaded, i go all out, if they look like its their 1-10th run ill take it nice and slow unless someone yells at me. We've all been where you are. just starting the raiding process, and seeing these fully geared people running ahead, and we all sit there cursing these players, then a few weeks down the road, you start wanting it to go that way. Just wait, it's coming, promise ya. Then you'll come back and remember this thread and be like wow, I may of been a little bit wrong.

I'm perhaps a little older than you at the age of 40.
I've played video games since the very first PC was available on the market and this is just one of dozens of MMO's I've played over the years.
I've never felt compelled to rush any content. I enjoy the grind.
In just about every MMO I watch as players burn themselves out on content and then start complaining about having nothing left to do. I've seen it all my friend.
However, in more recent times players consume content at alarming rates.
I started to see people with Magitek Armor mounts just 2 weeks after official launch and that is just insane to me. Do these folks go outside ever?
Anyways... I digress... I still go back and help FC members with Sastasha and other low level dungeons as do many others in my FC. We just enjoy playing together at a casual pace.
DF
Say hello, wait for buff's, and make sure all is rdy
Pull first pack, see how comfy healer are and what dps's have to offer. Adjust rest of run from this!
Thank u for a nice run and take care all
Nice and fast way to do something like WP ^^
If u want Chuck Norris run, make grp urself and dont make DF a bad experience for ppl![]()
Cant blame SE for everything ^^

Im in full DL with my +1 and I have only done maybe 5 AK runs because people DF in it not geared for it and it is a pain. I live in WP because it's lgs head ache. Now that everyone wants to do the "speed" run...I find WP becoming more daunting to do. Mostly because it's now rush rush rush, tank goes to far and dies, healer can't heal fast enough, or tank can't tank more than one mob. These aren't guys in fresh 50 gear these are guys in their relics and stuff and are from pugs and DF both. Most of these wipes are because no one knows what the other is doing and assumes...then Dies. These speed runs often end up being the same amount of time as a normal run. Not to mention all the Gil you lose by skipping mobs.
I usually don't invite someone that's yelling WPSR or job + relic due to the fact I'd rather take someone new and attentive rather than someone on auto pilot, rushing and careless. Usually if their toting the relic in their /sh their wanting to go faster. That's just my 2cents...sipped runs suck, they take the same length of time unless your group synergies or have done it before more than once.
I routinely run WP at varying paces depending on the group. I always pull the first four mobs (two tonberries, two birds) as a test on the party. Depending on factors like healing and damage, I'll let the group know if we'll be doing medium or big aoe pulls if I feel like the group can handle it. If I push a group too hard with pulls their gear and skill level can't handle then that's my fault and I need to slow the run down as necessary. Gear tells half the picture, you need a benchmark in the beginning to decide what a group can handle. I've seen players in GC weapons perform better than those with relics.

Why do people who wanna SR even use the DF in the first place is my question xD
I can't queue up and assume I'll get into a SR group and don't even check if the group can do a SR, or even wants to. If people wanna SR content, they should join Shout Groups.
Whenever I use DF for any content, I never do SRs unless the group is capable of doing it and actually says they want to. Same goes for Primals...I can't assume to just zerg things down and be done in 5 minutes. A lot of people don't have the gear or Skill to pull that off in DF, so why even stress it when you can do it normal just fine.
If there are more than 2 pulls before the first boss, you aren't speed running.
If there are 3 or 4, someone is probably pulling an amount of enemies that is adequate for their level of equipment, and while with a decently equipped party (dl/primal weapon) is a little faster than just pulling each group individually, shouldn't be creating much stress.
I mean you've really given us no idea of what your concept of a speed run is, but I find it difficult to believe someone is derpy enough to just yolo a df group for a speed run.
