Countermeasures for the Fraud Using Market (Nov. 8)

Here is a message from Producer/Director Yoshida regarding the current security issue and action that will be taken from this point on for Market.

    -------------------

    This is Producer/Director Yoshida.

This is just a preliminary report on the situation, but allow me to explain about current and future countermeasures.

Firstly, we’ve been receiving numerous questions and reports over the last few hours and confirmed unauthorised activity from third parties impersonating legitimate players, who have targeted a portion of the market place. We don’t currently have many reports of users affected but, in order to help prevent any further impact/damage, we are going to conduct emergency maintenance.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused to many of our players.

We are verifying the data and promise that everything will be kept secure.

This issue can only be seen in a small portion of Worlds, Zones and in certain situations, so it will not affect players who were not logged in.

Once we resolve this issue, re-establish the security and recover the game, we intend to take action against the parties responsible and implement further security measures.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused.

    -------------------

We are not planning to perform any sizable character data roll backs at the current time.

However, we will arrange proper assistance for players whose data was affected.

We have obtained information on the route and IP address of the source and are proceeding with legal action against the party responsible.

Countermeasures to Assist Players Affected by the Market Security Breach (Nov. 8)

We will shortly be contacting players affected by the earlier security issue with the Market via the primary e-mail address registered on individual Square Enix Accounts, once the maintenance has been completed.

A GM (Game Master) will then contact you directly in-game, but players are free to continue playing as usual until then.
If you are logged out at the point a GM tries to contact you, they will attempt to reach you again later on.

For further assistance, whether this problem affects you or not, if you do not receive any notification, then please refer to the details concerning this Market issue from the in-game Support Desk.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
