Not really. You'd have to be able to crack the encryption in real time regardless of the keys/session tokens. I don't believe that any RMT operation is going to invest what they'd have to in order to do that, just so they could inject fraudulent transactions that would easily be traced once detected.
That said, it is possible to do more to secure their database queries/transactions for this game, and they should do it. Even if a determined group of hackers or the NSA could crack the encryption or authentication information used, greater security would foil all but those most determined attacks.
Is this confirmed 100% fixed?
Its entirely possible that the server Ez played on was hit worse than the server Tupsi played on. I know on Titan we got rocked pretty hard by the RMT market crash. It got so bad that no one could afford anything. Three very bad months ensued. I have to say though, this "hack" is way worse than anything I have ever encountered on any other MMO, besides Ragnarok which I played way back in 2000. For something like this to even happen...Did you play XI? The economy was at a point where legit players couldn't afford to buy anything because RMT completely ran the show. Leaping Boots were like 2 million gil. O. Kote were like 8 million gil. On top of that, you had to deal with claim bots. RMT screwed that game up big time for a good while. Either way, it doesn't really matter. This situation is pretty insane, and trying to make excuses for SE is foolish.
Yesterday, I was sprinting to reach where the Lv 49 enemies live in Gridania, it suddenly disconnected at 12:18AM. I thought it was supposed to be 1:00AM, not 12:00AM. So I exited it before it disconnect with another error. So I decided to check another board and looked around. The next thing I knew is everyone were affected by someone caused this much confusion. They lost their Gils during logging. I was surprised and felt very worrying about the hacker can do anything to my game... even their games. So now that was a huge emergency maintenance this day. SE and the Dev team are trying to investigate the attack and resolve the worst situation. I fear that this game may be not be safe for all of us.

Regarding the debate whether it was RMT or a player did this... considering one of the npcs people were being forced to buy from was called 'supermarketsweep' that indicates the latter, or a RMT criminal taking a particularly cruel sideswipe at their victims. Smacks of an organised criminal ring though, given all servers were hit pretty much simultaneously with the attack.
Omg, this is a serious problem. My question is, why only asian made game are easily hacked like this. I played mmorpg called ragnarok online before and it suffer gruesome hack also. I mean, why?? its SE for sake, not some random korean game company
I heard him saying that in his little black boy voice, and then I was like "That's racist!". But I heard it in the little black boy voice, I then proceeded to have that loop through my head for about 5 minutes.
Though I didn't immediately think he was Bill Cosby, so that's progress.
Umm... WoW had this kind of security at the beginning. Search around, I bet you can find post about people complaining of dupe hacks, packet editing and other various things for every online game.
Any word on how to get our lost monies reimbursed? Maybe I missed the notice... Do we have to contact a GM in game? Will SE mail us our lost money?
