I would be very surprised if there was. No team worth their salt would EVER try a rollback. You determine the exploit, work on an algorithm to determine which transactions need to be reversed and reverse them accordingly. The only time a complete rollback is something you might consider is when your datacenter burns down and you're working off tape backups.
Just a bad bit of code, it happens. A few million lines and it's not overly surprising that someone finds a weakness in a few of them.
Sorry to say, I really doubt SE will do any kind of rollback.
I really wish SE would show they care about our pretend assets as much as we do. Their reaction to this most recent exploit is more to cover their butt more than anything. It's not a kindness for our monies...People can say otherwise, but it's more to the effect that someone putting holes in their game makes them look bad. And, we all want SE, the creator of our little world to look good and continue to make money so another meteor doesn't fall and kill us all....again...
So those wishing for a rollback, it wouldn't hurt me for you to get it, but i really doubt SE would go through the trouble. I could speculate what it would take for some kind of rollback or recovery to happen, but it would just get peoples hopes up.
Here's hoping for our benevolent overlords to get a handle on RMT. Perhaps they need to make all RMT spam/exploit bots killable in game. That would make me smile.
this. so very much this. please SE let us do this.
they take no pride in doing it themselves and want it all handed to them. sadly a lot of people are like this.

The client sends data to the server and vice-versa. This game does not have very good security over that stream of information, and hackers have found ways to manipulate it into tricking the server into thinking you (your client, specifically) is buying things from the market that you actually aren't.
And btw, Yoshi has just posted on the JP boards that people will be reimbursed and there won't be rollbacks.
EDIT: LOL Google translate is so fail. But yeah, that's his post Shinsaki linked. We posted at the exact same time. xD
I hope they re-rolled all servers and give people their gils back. I would quit if i lost all my gils ...-_-. I don't mind the re-roll but hopefully it help other players.
I hope I didn't loose any gil but I hope they don't roll back a whole day like seems to be the case based on lodestone. So much lvling lost... and grinding for the 2 star I had made... ugh this is going to suck. Though unfortunately sucks more for those who lost a lot of gil and time with things other than grinding. =(
Yes, if there's a positive side to this, it's that it's going to be very easy for SE to track the stolen gil and offending retainers. We're not dealing with the brightest criminal minds apparently.Does anyone else find it amusing that the RMT's are now having to go THIS FAR in order to make money in this game? I like to see it as progress on SE's part. The RMT's are stooping to new lows in order to keep the funds rolling in. Something this blatantly obvious is bound to get attention and the rollback will make everything the way it was before. They shouldn't have been so careless attacking everyone at once. I just hope that SE is able to grab the mass amount of gil from them before it gets sold to the low-life's that buy it.
dang. i only found this thread now. made me wish i could check my gil funds before servers went down since i did spend a good amount of time near the market board and the summoning bell to level my goldsmith.
