Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We understand that the download of the new Final Fantasy XIV update is very slow and that you would like to use a 3rd party application to increase the download speeds.

Unfortunately, we have to affirm that a use of a 3rd party application or rather a torrent appication is prohibited and that a use of it will bring an account suspension if it is found out.

Best regards,

The SQUARE ENIX Support Centre Team

It would be less of an issue if people could continue to seed after reaching 100%.
It would but it would still require them to keep adding bandwidth when subscribers increase, and if they ditch the direct download when they get more subscribers it would be a waste of resources to pay for the extra bandwidth and servers to give us updates
