    Best and Worst Dungeon experiences!

Share your best and or worst dungeon experience with us! In an effort to promote server unity please do your best to avoid calling out the worst (nickname, no name, etc) but feel free to shower praise on the best!

The experience that brought me to make this thread was an Amdapor Keep experience I recently had via the Duty Finder. I very rarely use the DF for dungeons as Rodeo is pretty active in that regard but I did this one morning...

So its me (PLD), a DRG, a SMN, and a WHM fighting the first boss in AK. 9 marionettes later, you heard me... NINE, I'm the only one left alive as the WHM went OOM and having 3 Marionettes up at once killed our dps with obliterate. At this point I hallowed ground, recall to the start, and mention I'm taking my leave. Its EXTREMELY rare that I leave a DF group but in this case I made an exception, lol. Nine marionettes is just impossibly bad dps.

FFXIVapp parsed our SMN at 155 dps, ME (yes me...) at 105 dps, and our DRG at 104. Problem located...

Best would have to be a AK run with a few other OMEGA members. None of us were geared at this point but another guy in the FC needed the run for his relic. So long story wth a number of laughs and a lot of wipes later we cleared it with about 8 seconds left on the clock!

Worst for me is really easy to pick out. Ifrit HM via DF. I'm MTing, another PLD is stunning, it's all working like any normal run. We get the nails down, the multiple plumes and triple dashes start and it all goes to hell. I'd say the first time Ifrit did the everywhere plume probably four people died. No problem, get them up with the WHM LB and continue on....at least until the next everywhere plume. Myself and the WHM managed to build up the T3 limit break TWO more times and rez everyone. And we still failed that fight because people kept dying.

At least they all learned from it because we gave it one more go with the same group and got him down with no deaths.

The first Stone Vigil keep I ever ran was with a tank who would never use an AoE move. As the Scholar in the group our common battle tactics would involve the tank tanking one mob while I tanked the other 2 or 3 amidst healing. Needless to say, we died fairly often. On top of that the tank wasn't very pro-active, he would hesitate before engaging any group of enemies. The dungeon was taking a very long time as a result.

With painstaking trial and error we finally get to the last boss, the ice dragon. Fortunately it was a boss with no ADDs so holding multiple aggro wasn't a problem, and our DPS player was pretty good. Nevertheless we wiped two times on the boss.

With about 6 minutes left to the dungeon timer we engage the boss as our last chance. Through a little experience and ridiculously awesome healing we manage to hold our ground, but the Dragon inconveniently enjoyed wasting time flying around. With even me helping on DPS we burn through the bosses' HP and it honestly looked like we were going to make it.
But at literally the last dot of the bosses' life bar, with only a mere few hits left to go, the dungeon timer finally runs out. Had we but 3 more seconds we would have won, but the dungeon was a failure, and to continue on with the main storyline quest I was forced to wait through the duty finder and run the whole thing over again.

    P.S.
I also think some people quit Ifrit Hard Mode too easily. Sometimes a wipe isn't about stupidity but just bad luck or one mistake. It's not the end of the world if you have to retry once.
Retrying twice, though, that's the end days right there.

So I was in Copperbell Mines with a new gladiator (I was DPS). The gladiator only used fast blade and riot blade on the first trash pull so the healer tanked more than the gladiator did. I told the gladiator that fast blade savage blade is their main enmity generating combo. The healer asked the gladiator to use flash as well. We do two more pulls and the gladiator still only uses fast blade and riot blade (with a very rare flash) and the healer was still tanking everything. I didn't want to carry the gladiator and make the healer tank so I decided to leave. I told the gladiator that there were tooltips and he should read them and told the lancer and conjurer sorry for leaving.

I don't really have a best dungeon experience outside of being a newbie tank and coming out of the first dungeon alive. I had DPS guys on meth, they killed things relentlessly, I never could see what I was targeting..

But on the last mob (and really all the major bosses), I held aggro and earned my keep I thought. Having leveled Pugilist enough to get its heal came in handy in that last fight.

To explain a little; I played a warden in Dark Age of Camelot and leveled it completely. Warden was a healing/tanking hybrid more focused on the healing side.

In FF11 I played a white mage and my minor character was a bard. I've largely played healing roles. I think I hit mid 30s with the bard, stopped doing white mage in the 40s because I couldn't get the right kind of parties anymore.

But the second dungeon.. decided to take it with my level 15 - 16 or so CNJ first, just to see what the dungeon was like.

I estimate I died 10 times. mobs were flowing to me constantly, DPS and tanks weren't pulling them off and I would go down. I had never died in a dungeon to that point, so I sat for a couple minutes wondering what that respawn button was. That couldn't have helped the party at all.

We get to the penultimate fight. I keep taking mage damage from the guy on the left, "O" the Ungood. I die three times from this and our tank then quits in frustration. About this time the DPS guys start talking.. not one word until then.

Our next tank actually talks and actually listens. Arturia Pendragon I believe was her name. We go into the penultimate fight, die from the mage taking me out once again and we go at it one more time. This time they pick up the mage, I stop getting clobbered and I can do my job and we get through.

Many thanks to our pick up tank, who actually did her job.
