if you not min/max your class then +1 is the way to go, who wouldn't want a growing Sword !!! ;D. turn 1 - 4 can be done with full DL, not really an issue there.

Recently my FC had to use an alt tank (PLD side of WAR main) for coil 1-4. That meant plain relic where normally we're accustomed to +1. It was a noticeable difference. DPS occasionally were threat capped, and you don't want that. Still won though.
As WAR myself there are times when you REALLY want every scrap of agro. Adds spawning mid-fight is biggest example (turn4, Cad split in turn1, Garuda clones). Also, if your DPS is REALLY good they can get threat capped/take agro on just single boss (ex: top shelf BLM going full burn with Foe Requiem). Pretty unusual for that to happen, but it's possible.
Exactly. Even running AK without being really on your game it is very hard to hold aggro against 2 geared out and +1 weapon dps that know their rotations.Recently my FC had to use an alt tank (PLD side of WAR main) for coil 1-4. Why would I spend Myth tomes on something that might drop for me my very first coil run?
Atleast with the relic +1 you know those are tomes well spent. Anyone just getting ready to coil should know it will mostly likely be several weeks before they even come close to clearing turn 5.
+1 Weapon seems to really just be about enmity and damage. If you're always doing speed-runs and dungeons, then having +1 is very useful for faster clears, and to hold the monster for just a little longer when everyone else goes all out.
I'm up to turn 4 in Coil, and while holding enmity is starting to get difficult, I'm finding accuracy to be a more important issue for me right now.
I personally went Relic armour instead of +1, because my mind keeps telling me that i70->i90 is better than i80->i90. Damage might be better on +1 but I've wiped from dying a lot more than wiping because I lost enmity.
In the end, either is a good option. Eventually you'll be getting all i90 anyway so the order in which you pick them isn't a big deal in the long run (depending on how you factor in Coil drops)
Allagan shield has ACC, and most PLDs in DL/Allagan/Myth gear are far over cap, even though the extra stat on Relic shield is SS it's still better to +1 it over using Allagan Shield plus Allagan Shield looks like a crappy pokeball. Bravura +1 is pretty much a waste with SS being on it and the 900 myth price tag also it glows pink, just wait till Allagan Axe. I can see Curtana +1 being useful, but honestly I'd upgrade all your armor before dropping the 600 on it, once you have every armor slot with ilevel 90 I'd go weapon before getting accessories since those will barely upgrade from DL to ilevel 90. I highly doubt a +1 tank weapon will ever make or break a raid group, and threat is a non-issue once you have base relic, even against +1 relic'd ilevel 90 geared DPS.

(i) The AF+1 Body is pretty much Best In Slot for a PLD. Yes, Allagan Armor might drop for you from Turn 1, but you're still going to use the Body pretty much always (both before and after you get the drops from Turn 5) and it's a much larger boost to Vit than the Sword. Why would I spend Myth tomes on something that might drop for me my very first coil run?
(ii) The Body is 825 Tomes. The Heros Ring of Fending (which should pretty much always be your first myth purchase as it's basically never going to be unequipped unless you're Spiritbonding) is 375 tomes. 825+375=1200, or Four weeks of Myth farming exactly. For points-of-Vit-gained-per-week-of-myth-farming that really can't be beaten (assuming full Darklight/Hoplite). The other option is Valor Legs, but they're not BIS, plus Darklight Legs have good accuracy (unlike Darklight Body) and swapping them out too early pushes you under the Coil accuracy cap.
(Maybe I'm biased though as I've not seen a single Tank drop yet from Turn 1 so far...)
I'd still go for the +1 Sword after the Body though (I'm getting it on Myth Week #6) followed by the Headgear unless by some miracle you're already clearing Turn 5.
I'd echo the view above about the +1 Weapon's Enmity boosts being very handy for certain turns though - In Turn 2 when we go East our Tanks basically pull 25% less hate, but our Bards are still putting out the same amount of damage as before and have to back off a bit. It's not really the enmity reduction that's killing us at the moment as much as trying to keep the silence rotation up during severe lag spikes... but every little bit helps!!![]()
