Seing as you thought it was a server and didn't know what it was maybe you should try figuring out networks first, I have a old CCENT/CCNA book that I dont need anymore if you want that. It is still fairly new it was revised for the 2012 exams I think.
SIP servers as in VOIP servers using SIP, as opposed to other VOIP-like protocols like Ventrilo, which isn't SIP, making SIP-related links irrelevant.
