Beware raid groups that use ventrillo

I know this was very stupid of me, But i got into a Raid group the other day and said they will only let me join if i use vent.

I was sent a link to d/l it so i did (I know im dumb) it was full of viruses, spyware and everything else u can think of.

no not a specific d/l linke they sent me a google link and i d/l'd it from the number 1 result.

So im guessing either ventrillo itself is full of spyware or they just made a dummy google result page and sent it to me? eh w/e it took a couple hours but my comp.y is all clean now so w/e lol

That is funny I use both Vent and Mumble and have never had a problem...it was probably the sites you were visiting.

Stick to the official sites and don't click random links...this is user error and no reason to "beware" groups that use ventrillo or any of the other popular voice chat programs.

And if they did just exploite the PhP coding of the server i wish u could change the title from beware ppl that use vent. to beware raide groups that 'require' a VoiP

your computer got infected by a vent server? what is this a new super computer AIDs?

in the email it said they just re routed me during the sip protocol or w/e only thing i understood was it was done during the 7th OSI layer. they sent me this to read more about it.

Well I found out what the problem was and it wasn't that i d/l'd something wrong.

If you ppl wanna keep bashing me cause of that than go ahead i was just trying to help out others. I know what happened know and there really was no way that I can think of that would of prevented this. Unless is there like a ventrillio server look up dictionary on tehre site or something? Probably not i would assume there would be like thousands if not millions of them and that would take a lot of time huh?

Lol there is. Well if there experience has taught me anything I will use that from now on, although there the only ppl i have ever ran into that uses vent everyone else i ever ran with uses T3.

But i am sure that T3 has that to.

Although to be fair if you actually read and understand what happened to me, which im gonna come out and say 100% of the ppl that have commented on this haven't read and or do not understand this problem can happen on any VoiP.

Ventrilo and Mumble are fine if you download them from www.mumble.com or www.ventrilo.com.

But yeah teamspeak3 is superior to both.
